'Duck Dynasty's Missy & Jase Robertson Suffer Devastating Loss

Missy and Jase Robertson are counting their blessings after a tornado tore through their Tennessee farm earlier this week.

The Duck Dynasty stars revealed the extent of the horrific damage in a series of photos shared on Missy's Instagram page on Thursday, May 9.

"Last night our Tennessee farm took a direct hit from a Cat 3 tornado," she wrote in an accompanying statement. "It actually hit about 30 seconds after @thecolerobertson drove into the driveway. He got out of his car and looked straight at it coming up over our back hill."

Missy explained that a "safe room" is located on the property, but it's in the garage on the far end of the family's home, so the couple's youngest son, Cole, made a split-second decision to take cover inside the house.

"He turned to run inside and was forced to the ground by the winds. He was able to get up, run inside and dive into the bathtub where he covered his head and listened to glass shattering and trees falling on the house and all around him," the 53-year-old shared. "He escaped completely unharmed."

Missy praised her 26-year-old's quick thinking, noting, "After seeing the aerial pictures today, we know now he would not have made it to the safe room as multiple large trees fell between his car and the garage."

What's even more "surreal," she said, was that she and Jase were in Louisiana at the time the tornado struck, "praying over our meal" and "asking God for protection for our family at the exact same time: 5:52 pm."

"We had no idea what was happening," she continued, "We’re thanking God for His protection over Cole today and our sweet neighbors who also took the hit. Please pray for those who are injured, missing and the families that lost loved ones."

The post concluded with a rather optimistic message as she admitted the "damage is extensive" and the family has already begun working on the cleanup, which "will be a long process."

But right now, she added, "this mama is completely thankful for God’s mercy over one of my most valuable possessions."

Along with Cole, Missy and Jase share two other adult children: Reed, 28, and Mia, 20.
