Drake Surprises Students at University of Miami and Miami High School

Drake performed at the University of Miami and gave a scholarship to a student after also giving out money at Miami Senior High School.

Students at the University of Miami had a much better Monday than the rest of us. Instead of going home to study after class, they got a performance from Drake, who was there to film part of a music video and give one student a special surprise, The Miami Hurricane reports.

Everyone crowded into the student center in the afternoon after hearing rumors of Drake's arrival, and sure enough, he showed up and presented pre-dental student Destiny James with a $50,000 scholarship. She had thought she was just filming a video to get people to donate to the school's scholarship fund and had no idea he was involved, ABC affiliate Local 10 News reports. A video shows her hugging him excitedly. "Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and decided to give me $50K for my tuition," she wrote on Facebook.

Then, he performed "God’s Plan" for a screaming crowd of students. "I’ll tell you one thing. I’ve been to a lot of places in the world. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a more turnt school than this," he told the audience. "I wish you all the best in life, a lot of love, a lot of happiness for you, your friends and your family." He showed school pride by wearing a University of Miami Sweatshirt and putting his hands up in a U shape.

Earlier in the day, he also surprised students at Miami High School by arriving in a fire truck, Local 10 News reports. While he was there filming bits of his "God's Plan" video, he told them they'd all get new uniforms designed by him and gave the school $25,000. "I hope you go on to do incredible things," he told the students. With all his help, there's no doubt they will.
