Drake Compares Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” To ’10 Things I Hate About You’ Poem

Kendrick Lamar rapped, “I calculate you’re not as calculated/I can even predict your angle” on “Euphoria.” And if his prediction had Drake responding with memes, he was correct.

Drake clowned on Lamar’s diss record with a scene from 10 Things I Hate About You on Tuesday (April 30). He uploaded a clip from the movie to his Instagram Story, along with a broken heart and winking emoji. Drizzy parallels the 1999 romantic comedy and Kendrick’s admittance to hating his entire being. The scene finds Julia Stiles’ Kat Stratford tearfully performing a romantic poem to Heath Ledger’s Patrick Verona.

“I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair/I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare/I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind/I hate you so much it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme,” Stiles’ character reads during the scene. “I hate the way you’re always right, I hate it when you lie/I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry/I hate it when you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call.”

During the latter half of “Euphoria,” Lamar turns his bars into pointed attacks on the Canadian artist. He argues that their feud was never about greatness, critics, or record sales but rather good ol’ classic hate.

This ain’t been about critics, not about gimmicks, not about who the greatest/It’s always been about love and hate, now let me say I’m the biggest hater,” Dot unleashes. “I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress/I hate the way that you sneak diss, if I catch flight, it’s gon’ be direct/We hate the bi**hes you f**k, ’cause they confuse themself with real women/And notice, I said ‘we,’ it’s not just me—I’m what the culture feelin.'”

And while it may sound like he’s doing his best Julia Stiles impression, he’s actually referencing DMX. X visited The Breakfast Club in 2012 and gave his honest opinion on the game. He was asked how he felt about Drake to which he admitted he didn’t like him. When X was asked to explain, he—well, he said almost everything Kenny said.

“I don’t like anything about Drake,” he began. “I don’t like his voice, I don’t like what he talks about, I don’t like his face, I don’t like the way he walks, nothing.” DMX also insisted that he would beat him up in an elevator back in the day.
