Dominic West Is Raising Eyebrows After Sharing How He & His Wife Remember Past Cheating Rumors

While a different celebrity scandal seems to happen every week, it’s hard to forget the moment when Dominic West denied cheating rumors by kissing his wife Catherine FitzGerald in front of their castle back in 2020. After all, the whole situation, including the photographs of him cuddling with Lily James, was quite hard to watch.

Now, a few years from the scandal, West’s comments about the situation is still raising eyebrows.

“I hesitate to speak on my wife’s behalf because it was obviously horrible, particularly for her,” The Crown star said in an interview with The Times, per People. And while this first part seems sensible, West proceeded to laugh and said he and FitzGerald “joke about it sometimes.”

“Whenever we went out together, the papers would always say we were ‘putting on a show of unity.’ Even if we’d just been rowing about parking the car or whatever, even if that couldn’t be further from the truth,” he said. “And so when we go out we do sort of say, ‘Shall we go and have a show of unity up in London?'”

And while it may be a light-hearted joke from the couple, who have been together since 2010 and share kids Dora, Senan, Francis and Christabel together, we can’t help but cringe at them brushing over his alleged infedelity.

“It was an absurd situation,” West continued of the rumors. “It was deeply stressful for my wife and my kids, but there were lighter moments. That was the best that came out of it, really.”

So while the scandal may still be ingrained in our minds over the years, it seems the couple has not only recovered, but have moved past it enough to joke about it.

As a reminder, their statement in 2020, which was followed by the infamous kiss for the cameras, included a paper with a short denial. “Our marriage is strong and we are very much still together,” the statement read.

Looks like they’re still strong indeed!
