Disney teases that ‘Encanto’ themed land could come to Disneyland Resort

It may finally be the time to talk about Bruno after one Walt Disney Company executive discussed the possibility of bringing “Encanto” to life at “The Happiest Place on Earth.”

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said that Encanto was among the “endless stream of stories” the company could tell at its theme parks.

“We will have enough room to build the equivalent of another Disneyland Park. And so, then you start to think about, ‘Well, what can we do here?’ D’Amaro said during the interview. “We haven’t told anything, any stories on Wakanda. We haven’t told any stories on Frozen, although it’s a 10-year-old franchise. You think about franchises like Coco and Encanto. We almost have an endless stream of stories that we can tell.”

D’Amaro reiterated that stories related to Frozen’s Arendelle, Black Panther’s Wakanda and Coco’s Santa Cecilia could come to life at Disneyland. He made a similar comment during an investor summit in Florida last year.

Should Encanto come to Disneyland in some capacity, it wouldn’t be the first time guests encountered the Madrigals in the park. A face character for Bruno was among those guests could meet at Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure in 2022 and a projection show featuring the song “We Don’t Talk about Bruno” played on the It’s a Small World façade for a while.

Disneyland wouldn’t be the first to bring Encanto to life at a Disney theme park either.

At Walt Disney World in Florida, plans were unveiled to transform Dinoland U.S.A., located within Disney’s Animal Kingdom, into a Mayan-themed Tropical Americas land featuring stories from Encanto and Indiana Jones.

Disney fans have long theorized what new lands and attractions could come to Disneyland after the company announced its Disneyland Forward expansion plans in 2021. Those discussions have amplified after the project received preliminary approval during an Anaheim City Council meeting earlier this month.

Fans hope that rides and attractions based on “Tangled,” “Zootopia,” and “Tron” and expanded areas based on “Peter Pan” and “Toy Story” could also be in the works.

However, Disney has announced that plans for an “Avatar” experience are slated for the Anaheim-based resort.

What comes next as part of Disneyland Forward will likely be revealed during the D23 fan event on Aug. 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Tickets for the event have already sold out.
