“It’s heartbreaking to go through. I was fully in love with her.”

They met at a wedding

Luke and Kristen first crossed paths in June 2022 at Rachael O’Brien and Greg Hunter’s wedding. And, yes, in a literal storybook twist, the Vanderpump Rules alum served as a bridesmaid while her now-boyfriend was a groomsman. Truly, you can't make this up. 🥺❤️

In the first episode of The Valley, Kristen recalls how she and Luke were initially introduced just two weeks after her split from ex Alex Menache. “I thought, ‘He’s sweet, he’s kind, he’s funny.’ Then we had sex behind a tent, and the rest is history,” the reality television star hilariously recalled.

However, in a more emotional tribute to their 'ship, Luke gushed about how “A lot changed for me in 2022. The best part was @kristendoute coming into my life.”

“We’ve had a lot of adventures and fun already and I can’t wait for what’s next! Love you babe 😘,” he sweetly added.

They announced their relationship status on their podcast

Though the two immediately hit it off after their mutual friends's wedding in June 2022, the couple decided to keep the news of their romance hush-hush until December of that year when they publicly shared the update on their joint podcast (FYI, the podcast was a solo endeavor originally called Sex, Love, and What Else Matters with Kristen before it rebranded to Balancing Act with Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick).

However, despite the fact that the two were announcing a happy decision they had ultimately come to, it wasn't exactly the easiest road to get there.

“I love you so much, but just the thought of being someone’s girlfriend again threw me through a loop because I want to be a wife, and I want to be a mother,” Kristen confessed. “Most of all, I just want to be a mother and a partner. And I was so tired of being a girlfriend for a couple of years and then having sh*t fall apart, to be honest.”

Luke also revealed that Kristen was initially reticent to reveal her true feelings for him at first because of their eight-year age gap, differing locations (the Vanderpump Rules alum lived in California, while he lived in Colorado during the early days of their 'ship), and the fact that she's a vegetarian while he's an avid hunter and fisher—which leads us to the fact that...

He's ~outdoorsy~

Yep, according to his Bravo bio, Luke enjoys hunting and fishing, though based on his social media, he's also into golfing, woodchopping, and *checks notes* serving Kristen breakfast in bed (iconic behavior!).

He prefers to maintain a low-key vibe

Like, so much so that even being on reality television was a biiiiig decision, given the spotlight is “not even close” to being something he's interested in. However, Luke ultimately made the decision to dip his toes into Kristen's world and join the cast of The Valley after thinking about their future family.

In a March 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he discussed the decision with the outlet and mused, “Here is the deal—this was discussed prior to us dating, making it official, that if we make it a thing, I have to agree to be on camera...So I am following through with my side of the deal.”

Kristen, for her part, added, “And my side of the deal is when we become parents, when the baby or the child is of school age, we no longer live in proper L.A.”

And speaking of the two being costars...

He's on The Valley!!!!

The latest Bravo show (which btw was legit just renewed for season 2!) follows the duo, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, and fellow couples Danny and Nia Sanchez Booko, Jesse and Michelle Lally, and Jason and Janet Caperna as they navigate huge milestones in their lives, from children to finances and moving.

Kristen confessed in that same aforementioned Entertainment Tonight convo that while the decision to appear on the show together was “nerve-racking,” it was also “exciting.” “I think I have just evolved so much...We have our podcast, but I really wanted to showcase our life and wanting to be married, eventually married, wanting to be parents,” she added.

They live together

Oh, and the couple gave Bravo's The Daily Dish a full-on tour of their Valley Village space, which they share with their three dogs (Jill, Bowie, and Gibson) and one gecko (Bronx).

During the fourth episode of The Valley, fans got to see the push and pull between Kristen and Luke re: where they wanted to live, with the former opening up about how “important” California is to her. “I can’t leave California tomorrow or next year or the year after, but I think giving it a couple of years. I’ve moved three times in a year and a half. I can’t do it again,” she confessed.

As for Luke? He mused the following during a confessional in that same episode: “Everything I’ve built up in life, everything I’ve worked for has been accumulating in Colorado. We also have a better circle, I think of people — true, down-to-earth, good people.”

Luckily, the two have seemed to find a happy medium in the meantime!

They want to start a family

Truly obsessed with how open these two are about their desire to have a family! During the season premiere of The Valley, Kristen spoke about her feelings on time passing and her desire to take the next steps in her personal life. “Watching all of my friends over the past few years get married, have babies, grow their families. I’m the oldest girl in this group. When’s my time?” she mused.

However, fans have been clued into Kristen's feelings and experiences for quite some time given her honesty and transparency. Just this past November, the reality star decided to share the heartbreaking news that she’d suffered a miscarriage at six weeks.

“I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this,” she began during the November 26, 2023 episode of her podcast. “I know so many women have been through this. And it's really f*cking terrifying because you always think, 'What's wrong, what did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?'”

“The only silver lining, the fact that we've now been digesting this for the last four or five days, is that I know once Luke and I are past this, we can try again. And we were very lucky and very fortunate that we got pregnant so quickly. We were so so lucky because it could have gone a different way for me at my age,” she added.

“It sucks to be where we are right now, but we've got to try to focus on the positive side of things,” Luke chimed before supportively adding, “I just know that I have to be your rock here, and I want to. I want to be there with you, for you. And help get over these sad times, and get back to more happy times, because I know it won't be that far off.”

“It's coming, we will accomplish it, and we'll be an awesome, happy family someday,” he continued.

And in an exciting update in May 2024, Kristen revealed that she and Luke were “back on the train trying and fingers crossed. We're doing right every month exactly how we should be doing it. So yeah, we're just hopeful.”

Wishing these two all the best!

Aaaaaand that's pretty much all we know for now! But definitely check back in for more updates on these two and make sure to check them out on Bravo's The Valley every Tuesday at 9 p.m ET/8 p.m. CT.
