Dancing With the San Angelo Stars 2024

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The sixth annual Dancing With the San Angelo Stars will took place in the Murphey Performance Hall on Thursday, April 25. The West Texas Rehab event was live-streamed right here on Concho Valley Homepage.

What is Dancing With the San Angelo Stars?

Dancing With the San Angelo Stars is an annual event to benefit West Texas Rehab Center’s Hospice of San Angelo. During the show, ten stars dance with a partner in a competition for the prized Mirror Ball Trophy.

Viewers decided who the winner of the competition was by voting on West Texas Rehab’s website.

For the first time in Dancing With the San Angelo Stars history, a woman took home the Mirror Ball trophy.

Who are the stars?

Alisen Sanders

Alisen Sanders is a native of San Angelo. When Sanders was a principal at Austin Elementary, West Texas Rehab worked with her to help create an occupational therapy room for students that were being seen at the school. Sanders said that her friends know that even though this event is for fun, she will take it seriously. “I’m going to take all of this very seriously,” she said.

Daniel Lui

Daniel Lui explained that he strongly believes in the mission of Hospice of San Angelo. “It is the only local nonprofit hospice provider for San Angelo and the surrounding Concho Valley,” Daniel said. Daniel explained that he hopes he will avoid the most disaster when taking the stage for the 2024 Dancing With the San Angelo Stars event.

Although Flor Leos was a little bit hesitant about joining Dancing With the San Angelo Stars, she went to her dad to for his advice. He told her, with teary eyes, that she needed to do it for what Hospice of San Angelo did for him and her mom. “Now we know firsthand the beautiful work that hospice does,” said Flor.

Kelley Cole

Kelley Cole, a dental hygienist, shared that Hospice of San Angelo and West Texas Rehab are near and dear to her heart. She attended West Texas Rehab herself to receive treatments on her hands. Kelley explained that her 94-year-old mom used hospice and rehab to “keep her dignity and composure,” along with feeling physically fit.

Kristina Mikeska

Kristina Mikeska said “yes” when she was asked to participate in Dancing With the San Angelo Stars because she wanted to be a part of something to give back to the community and she wanted to step out of her comfort zone. Kristian explained that she was nervous to get up on stage but is excited to be in such a fun event.

Madison Thomas

Madison Thomas, who has been in San Angelo for the past two years, was introduced to Dancing With the San Angelo Stars through her brother. She shared that getting up on stage and dancing is more in her realm than doing an interview for her introduction.

Mason McClintock

Mason McClintock, who is an orthodontist in San Angelo, was asked to participate in the 2024 Dancing With the San Angelo Stars after receiving a call. After watching the previous show, he saw how entertaining and about the money the show raised every year. “It was going to be very hard to say no.”

Tom Green County Sheriff Mental Health Sgt. Quentin Williams shared that he often responds to calls for individuals who need help and need services through hospice and counseling. “I am shy but like I said once I get going I think I’ll have a lot of fun up there,” he said.

Reese Montgomery explained that he is thoroughly excited to help raise money for Hospice of San Angelo because his grandfather was in hospice in Abilene. “I appreciate all the workers and just the care they show to people they don’t even know,” he said. Reese said that he is looking forward to his friends and family getting the chance to watch him on the stage.

Rode Biggs jokingly said he still was not sure why he decided “yes” to Dancing With the San Angelo Stars. “No, I’m kidding,” he shared. “It’s a great cause. It means a lot to me and my family so it’s hard not to say yes to something like that.” Rode explained that his family recently utilized Hospice of San Angelo and that his son went to West Texas Rehab for speech, OT and PT early in his life.
