Cops apprehend man in random Midtown attack on actor Steve Buscemi

A person of interest was apprehended in connection with the random attack on actor Steve Buscemi in Midtown Manhattan last week, police sources said.

The stranger slugged the actor as he walked on Third Ave. near E. 27th St. in Kips Bay, police said at the time.

Cops later identified Clifton Williams, 50 as Buscemi’s attacker, and released surveillance photos of him Tuesday. It wasn’t immediately clear if Williams was the person in police custody.

The actor was taken to Bellevue Hospital and treated for swelling and bruising to his left eye.

“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” Buscemi’s publicist said in a statement after the attack.
