Cirque de Paris European circus set to kick off in Buffalo Thursday

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — From hula-hooping, to clowning, or juggling on hand–and on foot. On Thursday night, it’s curtains up for the European show, Cirque de Paris at Walden Galleria.

The producer of the show, Anouchka Bouglione has the circus in her blood line. She said that her family is the oldest circus family in France and that this tour is their American debut.

“It’s nice for us because this show is more than a show. It’s like a big family,” said Bouglione said. “I am the seventh generation and we wanted to come here to the United Srates to show you our European-style circus. Because like in every country, you have different kind of food or fashion and the circus is the same, it’s different styles.”

One of the main differences is that they make the size of their show smaller, so their cast can create more of a connection with the audience.

“You can feel the energy when you are watching the show because you are really close, we can see all of the audience when we are performing,” Bouglione said.

Their circus family, is made up of close friends and their loved ones from France, Italy, and Spain. For Pedro Santos’ father and son duo, not only do they share the same passion for clowning, they’re keeping the family stage name, “Rampin,” in the spotlight.

“It’s been a tradition that has been for many, many years in my family, my great grandparents, my grandfather, my dad used to be a clown with his brothers so we are known as clowns, clown family of Spain and it’s a lot of fun,” Pedro Santos, Jr. said.

The big top is in the parking lot of Walden Galleria, until April 28. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here or in person an hour before any showtime.
