Chynna Phillips Shares Clip of Wilson Phillips Reunion at Owen Elliot-Kugell's Book Signing: 'Born to Sing Together'

Elliot-Kugell, daughter of Mama Cass, recently spoke to PEOPLE about why she wasn't part of Wilson Phillips alongside Chynna, Wendy Wilson and Carnie Wilson

The women of Wilson Phillips still love to harmonize!

Chynna Phillips Baldwin shared a YouTube video on May 14 of herself attending a signing for Owen Elliot-Kugell's new book, My Mama, Cass, with Wendy Wilson and Carnie Wilson, where the "Hold On" trio took a moment to sing together in congratulations to the author.

"Owen, we love you so much," said Carnie, 56, in the clip.

"Owen, we love you. You did an amazing job," added Phillips, 56.

"You really shined tonight, baby," Wendy, 54, told the camera.

"Can we sing 'We love you, Owen' in three-part harmony?" asked Phillips to her bandmates, before they spent some time figuring out each vocalist's role in the mini-performance.

After one attempt, Phillips asked the group to try again, and they sang, "We love you, Owen, oh yes we do. We love you Owen, and we'll be true. When you're not with us, we're blue. Oh Owen, we love you."

"Born to sing together!" exclaimed Carnie once they finished.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Elliot-Kugell, 57 — daughter of Mama Cass from The Mamas & The Papas — revealed forming Wilson Phillips was originally her idea and explained why she was "crushed and disappointed" to not be in the group.

"It wasn't the right time and it was hard for me. Absolutely. That was hard for a while. And especially when they became such a big success. It definitely was a little bit bitter for me, I think — or bittersweet, I guess is the way to put it," she said.

Elliot-Kugell recalled coming up with the idea for a band and recruiting Phillips (daughter of the Mamas & the Papas' John and Michelle Phillips) as well as Carnie and Wendy (daughters of The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson).

The four women spent time singing and rehearsing together, but after Elliot-Kugell went home to Massachusetts for the holidays, she learned the group was going forth without her.

"I begged them not to record anything until I got back. When I returned, though, something didn't feel right when I spoke to the girls," she wrote in My Mama, Cass. "What I didn't know was that in my absence it had been decided that I should not be in the group. The blend wasn't there — my voice was too loud."

"I was crushed and disappointed to have been edged out of something that I had helped create," continued Elliot-Kugell in the book.

As Wilson Phillips took off with a blockbuster 1990 debut album, Elliot-Kugell landed a record deal that later fell through, "but I was glad to have that experience and it came full-circle," she told PEOPLE.

"The whole thing with the girls came full-circle when they asked me to come and sing on ‘Dedicated to the One I Love’ with them," added Elliot-Kugell, noting that they're all "besties" today.
