Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt is once again stirring up controversy with his Mother's Day tribute.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie star polarized his followers on social media over the weekend after sharing a sweet Mother's Day post to his mom, Kathy Pratt, and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, who is the mother of his two daughters, Lyla and Eloise.

But critics were quick to point out that Chris noticeably excluded ex-wife Anna Faris, the mother of his firstborn son, Jack, from his Instagram post on Sunday, May 13, fueling a debate in the comments over whether or not he snubbed his ex by failing to mention her in the post.

Chris' Instagram post featured several photos of Katherine, 34, and a couple of his own mom. He shouted out his wife for not only raising their two daughters, but also for being a stepmom to Jack, which some of his followers thought would have been a good moment to mention Anna, 47.

"Forgot a mom didn't you?" one comment read.

"He should post her for the child they share. She is raising him up properly. 👏" another person wrote in defense of the Mom actress.

But tons of other fans rushed to defend Chris from backlash, arguing that he shouldn't be required to include Anna in the post since the pair are no longer married.

"Y’all, as an ex-wife, not all of us want some public post from our ex. And as a current wife, I wouldn’t want my husband posting one. No need to slam the guy," one person wrote.

But someone else countered that point by using Will Smith as an example for a similar situation, noting that his post included a shoutout to his first wife, Sheree Zampino, the mother of his son Trey Smith. Other comments also mentioned Tom Brady, who honored both Gisele Bündchen and Bridget Moynahan in his post this year.

"It’s not weird at all to acknowledge her on Mother’s Day," that user insisted. "It’s Mother’s Day, not wife’s day."

Still, some people pointed out that Chris and Anna might already have an arrangement in place when it comes to talking about each other on social media.

"Not to mention maybe Ana [sic] has asked him not," one user commented, adding, "We literally know nothing about their lives. She could simply not want him to."

Other fans were frustrated with the arguments in the comments, especially since it's not a new debate. Chris riled up fans the same way last year by also not mentioning Anna in his 2023 Mother's Day post.

"Is this chaos going to happen every year??" one fan wondered.
