Chris Pratt Shares Video of ‘Perfectly Healthy, Curious’ Son Jack in Honor of World Premature Day

There are so many random fake holidays these days (National Hot Dog Day! Waffle Day!), but one we can get behind is World Premature Day, which Chris Pratt marked Thursday with a special Instagram post.

The Magnificent Seven star and his wife Anna Faris’s only son, Jack, was born nine weeks premature in August 2012. The adorable little mischief-maker is now 4, “perfectly healthy,” and “curious,” reports the proud dad, who shared a video of Jack in complete wonderment as he stares at a praying mantis on his arm.

“As many of you may know, our son Jack was just over 3 pounds when he was born,” the 37-year-old dad wrote. “Thanks to scientific advances made possible by #marchofdimes funding, today he’s a perfectly healthy, curious 4 year old.”

He continued, “Today is #worldprematurityday. 15 million babies are born #prematurely each year around the world. And 1 million of them won’t live to celebrate their 1st #birthday. The @marchofdimes strives for a world where every #baby has a fair chance, yet this is not the reality for many mothers and babies.

He ended his post by directing people to the March of Dimes donation page.

In case you missed it, THIS:

Last year, Pratt, who married Faris in 2009, talked with People magazine about the month Jack spent in the I.C.U. He said it changed his life.

“We were scared for a long time,” he said. “We prayed a lot.” However, the experience “restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it. The baby was so beautiful to us, and I look back at the photos of him and it must have been jarring for other people to come in and see him, but to us he was so beautiful and perfect.”

He described the boy as a “fighter,” adding, “He’s so open and there’s no fear in him no matter what. He is so charming that my plan is to just let him take care of us as soon as he’s old enough.”

Sounds like the perfect plan. Can he take care of us too?
