In the previous episode, Young-Han, Kim Sang-Soon (Lee Dong-Hwi), Cho Kyung-Hwan (Choi Woo-Sung), and Seo Ho-Jeong (Yoon Hyun-Soo) worked on a complicated case. They had to arrest an elite group that assaulted and killed an innocent girl. When the Unit 1 team of detectives thought they were about to solve the case, three out of four culprits died. The episode ended with Young-Han risking his life to catch the killer, Jung Hee-Sung, red-handed.

Hee-Sung was the one who killed the innocent girl. After a fight with his three friends, he hit them with a truck. While Kwon Hyung-Geun and No Yoon-Hak died on the spot, Nam Jung-Gil survived. Episode 10 begins with Hee-Sung trying to suffocate Jung-Gil at the hospital.

Despite multiple hurdles, Young-Han and his team bring justice to the victims. Hence, the K-drama ends on a happy note.

Chief Detective 1958 episode 10 recap & spoilers: Did Lee Je-Hoon & his team catch the murderer?

In Chief Detective 1958 episode 10, Detective Young-Han catches Hee-Sung red-handed when the latter tries to murder Jung-Gil. Although the real killer has been arrested, his influential father seeks Senior Superintendent Baek Do-Seok’s help.

Do-Seok takes advantage of the opportunity and demands a whopping amount from Hee-Sung’s father. For context, he is one of the most corrupt officers whom Young-Han has encountered in his life. When Do-Seok learns about Hee-Sung’s arrest, he makes a deal with the killer’s father. He then barges into the Unit 1 police department and bashes Young-Han. The latter does not budge and refuses to set Hee-Sung free.

Furthermore, Jung-Gil reveals how an innocent girl died because of them. Jung-Gil, Hee-Sung, Yoon-Hak, and Hyung-Geun brought a girl from the latter’s factory. While Yoon-Hak injected drugs into her, Hee-Sung assaulted her brutally. Also, in a fit of rage, he beat her to death. While the other three agreed to keep it a secret, Hee-Sung didn’t want to take any risk and, hence, attacked them later.

After telling the truth to Young-Han and his team, Jung-Gil refuses to become a witness in court. The Unit-1 team has no evidence against the culprit yet and may have to release him soon. They see a ray of hope when the victim’s friends visit Young-Han and give more information about the elite group’s criminal activities. Initially, they hesitate to appear in court, but Young-Han’s wife, Hae-Joo (Seo Eun-Soo), convinces them.

After solving Hee-Sung’s case, Young-Han, Sang-Soon, Kyung-Hwan, and Ho-Jeong are set to punish Do-Seok. The latter orders his men to abduct Jung-Gil and plans to hand him over to Hee-Sung’s father. Things get ugly when Hee-Sung’s father’s men attack Do-Seok at a church. Young-Han and his team rush to rescue the citizens and catch Do-Seok.

Chief Detective 1958 episode 10 ending: Why did Detective Park Young-Han visit a cemetery in the end?

In the Chief Detective 1958 finale, Young-Han finally gets hold of Do-Seok. He doesn’t let his past trauma affect his current situation and arrests Do-Seok even after getting injured. Eventually, the team of four unlikely detectives solves a big corruption case, and Do-Seok and Hee-Sung are given death sentences.

Despite the victory, Young-Han tells Hae-Joo that he has not yet ended corruption. His wife comforts him as the two prepare for their child’s birth. Later, he and his team congratulated Chief Yu for bagging the position of senior superintendent. However, Yu entrusts his title to Young-Han.

Towards the end, the episode features an elderly Park Young-Han (played by Choi Bool-Am). He meets two old friends and reminisces about the old days. After bidding farewell to them, Young-Han visits a cemetery with a bunch of flowers. He puts one flower each on the graves of Chief Yu, Sang-Soon, Kyung-Hwan, Ho-Jeong, and Inspector Nam.

Chief Detective 1958 ends with Young-Han confessing that he feels alone as none of his friends are alive. As the sun sets, he says goodbye to his friends and leaves the cemetery. Although the elderly Young-Han may be sad and lonely, his story in the K-drama has a happy ending.
