Cheryl Cole Responds to Liam Payne Cheating Rumors

"This is a stupid article, clutching at very small straws."

Cheryl Cole has no time for the rumor mill.

After rumors surfaced that Liam Payne had allegedly "cheated" on her with a dancer, Cheryl took to Twitter on Friday, March 30 to shut down the entire piece of gossip. As noted by Billboard, Cheryl began her social media statement by noting that she doesn't "usually...bother to respond to stupid articles." However, she added: "But in my silence, they hold the pen."

She went on to say that the rumor — which reportedly started after a video showed Liam and the dancer together in Dubai — was "stupid." Cheryl added: "I can’t ignore this story involving an innocent dancer colleague of Liam‘s who has a fiancé, and dragging them into this desperate attempt to try to cause problems between Liam and I."

Cheryl also addressed the recent media buzz surrounding Liam's so-called "cozy" photo with Katy Perry. "I also happen to love Katy Perry," she concluded in her note, adding the shrugging emoji for emphasis.

But she wasn't done there. In another tweet, Cheryl announced that she and Liam were heading off on their holiday. "And the only thing we’re making are memories," she added. "And breaking is our healthy eating 😁."

This isn't the first time that Cheryl and Liam had to address negative rumors about them. Earlier this month, the One Direction singer shut down gossip that alleged that Cheryl was trying to "make him jealous" by hanging out with Tom Hardy. Prior to that, Cheryl responded when people speculated that the two were splitting up.

The bottom line? It's key to remember that rumors aren't always rooted in truth. A friendly photo isn't necessarily indicative of romance, and it's entirely possible for two people to hang out platonically. Cheryl wins one for this round — here's hoping people finally leave her and Liam alone.
