The entertainment community suffered a sad loss this past weekend. Chance Perdomo, actor in Prime Video’s Gen V and Netflix’s Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, passed away at the age of 27 due to a motorcycle accident.

People reported that no one else was involved or injured in the crash. Perdomo was en route to Toronto via Upstate New York to film the second season of Gen V. The show’s production will be delayed due to this tragic news.

“His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest,” his family said in a statement shared with People. “We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”

Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television shared a message of remorse via X, formerly known as Twitter. “The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo,” they wrote. “Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television extend our heartfelt thoughts and support to Chance’s family and all who loved him at this difficult time.”

Gen V producers shared a statement that gushed over the late actor. “We can’t quite wrap our heads around this,” they wrote. “For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense.” They encouraged all who read their statement to hug their loved ones.

Chance Perdomo was born in Los Angeles before moving to Southhampton in Hampshire, England. There, he attended Peter Symonds College before moving to London and joining the National Youth Theater and Identity School of Acting.

Perdomo got his on-screen debut in 2017, playing the role of Henry Goodall in the CBBC’s adaption of Hetty Feather. From there, he appeared in Killed By My Debt, which earned him a nomination for Best Actor by the British Academy Television Awards.

He joined Netflix’s Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina in 2018. Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa specifically wrote Perdomo’s role, Ambrose Spellman, with him in mind after being blown away by his audition for the Jughead Jones role in Riverdale.

The popular actor took his talents into the cinematic universe with his movie debut in 2021’s After We Fell. He reprised his role of Landon Gibson in the subsequent films in the series, 2022’s After Ever Happy and 2023’s After Everything. He even got into his voice acting bag, playing Snork in the third season of the Finnish television series Moominvalley.

Finally, Perdomo starred as Andre Anderson in Prime Video’s Gen V in 2023, which was a spin-off of the popular superhero series The Boys.

VIBE sends its sincerest condolences to Chance Perdomo’s family, friends, loved ones, colleagues, and anyone whom this sad news has impacted. Rest in peace, Chance Perdomo.
