These celebrities are proving that some looks are timeless by repeating their best looks over and over again. Stars from Cate Blanchett to Gwyneth Paltrow have re-worn their red carpet looks on repeat and we’re applauding their sustainable, money-saving choice!
Not only has Blanchett defined herself as one of the greatest actresses of her generation, but she’s also established herself as a major head-turner on the red carpet. And while her elegance and fashion sense are enough to make Best Dressed lists all around, it’s her fashion rewears that have sparked the most conversations. Over the years, she’s re-worn and reinvented many of her red carpet looks.
Speaking of the trend, Blanchett said it was all no big deal. “It should be completely unremarkable, the idea of re-wearing (clothes), because we do it in our daily lives,” she told Business of Fashion a year ago. “We do it out of habit, we do it out of choice, we do it out of necessity.”
“It’s an expression of who you are and how you look at the world,” she continued. “I’ve always re-worn and recycled and all of those things. There’s nothing remarkable about that. There are millions of people doing that.”
Indeed, people rewear shirts, pants, and shoes every single day – it’s just unique that Blanchett does so on the red carpet.

At the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Glenn Close won the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role for The Wife while wearing a chic eggshell-colored double-breasted suit. Five years later, she rocked the look yet again at the Ralph Lauren Fall/Holiday 2024 Runway Show in New York City on April 29.
“I’m very very proud to be re-wearing this suit that I wore five years ago at the SAG Awards,” Close said on Instagram. “Beautiful, beautiful classic Ralph Lauren suit but this one happens to be covered with tiny Swarovski crystals.”
“I feel like a million bucks and I’m going to retire this suit to my costume collection after this,” she said. So stunning, then and now!
Kirsten Dunst
Civil War star Kirsten Dunst wore this plunging white lace dress at the 2004 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Over 13 years later, the actress wore it again at the Chopard presents the Garden Of Kalahari in 2017.
Gwyneth Paltrow
In another major gap between red carpet wears, Gwyneth Paltrow first wore this bright red velvet suit and baby blue button-down to the 1996 VMAs. Years later, in 2021, she rocked the look at the Gucci Love Parade. Timeless!
Laura Dern
Back in 1995, Laura Dern brought out her sexy side in this cutout 1017 ALYX 9SM black dress at the Sheba Humanitarian Awards Gala. Over 25 years later, she wowed in the look yet again at the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Plus, she had an Oscar to accessorize it with!

Cate Blanchett totally reinvented this lace Armani Prive she wore to the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. At the 2023 SAG Awards, she wore the dress’ bottom layer paired with a black sequined dress on top.
