Catherine Zeta-Jones Lent Daughter Carys an Iconic ’90s Dress for Her 21st Birthday

Carys Douglas, daughter of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, rang in her 21st birthday looking chic and sophisticated in a designer gown she didn't even have to shop for: as the song says, she got it from her mama.

In a photo dump she captioned “The most perfect 21st I could ask for ! 🌸,” Douglas shared pictures from what looks like a very classy restaurant dinner with friends.

Fashionistas immediately clocked that her baby pink embellished dress is the same Ungaro piece that her mother wore to the 1999 MTV Movie Awards. For those of us who struggle with basic math, yes, this means the dress is older than the birthday girl. Though it doesn't show its age.

On her own Instagram, the Chicago star shared sweet black-and-white pics from Carys’s early years, and wrote a heartfelt message to her daughter, sharing, “Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter @carys.douglas You are the joy of my life. 21 years of watching you blossom in to the most incredible woman you are today is a God given gift that I never take for granted and cherish every day of my life. Thank you for being you. I love you with all my heart ♥️ Mama.”

Carys, currently a film student at Brown, made her red carpet debut at last year's Cannes Film Festival, accompanying her parents in a white Ellie Saab gown. She's been her mom's plus-one at fashion events for years, so it's no surprise that she has impeccable taste. And since Catherine Zeta-Jones is basically her look-alike, what flatters one will probably flatter the other, and vice versa. Per her LinkedIn, Carys is also involved in food sustainability at school, and we have to imagine the choice to recycle her birthday dress was motivated in part by it being eco-friendly. So cool!
