Cardi B Celebrates ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ Album’s 6-Year Anniversary

Cardi B celebrated the sixth anniversary of the release of her debut album, Invasion Of Privacy, this past weekend. She used the moment to confirm that its anticipated follow-up will be arriving in 2024.
On Saturday (April 6), Cardi hopped on her Instagram Story and spoke on the success of Invasion Of Privacy, which was released back in 2018. “6 years ago I released my first album and it broke so many records GAH LEE!!” the Bronx native expressed.
“6 years later I’m preparing to drop the next one this year.. it’s so different from what everyone is expecting and I’m sooo excited. Love you guys and thank you for the support! I’ll talk to ya soon I been so busy these last few days [red heart emojis].”
Speculation regarding the long delay of Cardi’s sophomore album has become the proverbial elephant in the room at this juncture of the superstar’s career. She has previously admitted to feeling the pressure of matching and surpassing the quality of her debut.
“When it comes to music and everything, I just be feeling like I don’t be liking anything. I feel like I got so many songs and I don’t like anything. I feel like nothing is good enough,” she said in 2022. “And I got so much money saved up I just be like, ‘Yeah, whatever the f**k.’”
The 31-year-old continued, “Making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety because everybody just critiques everything that I do. It’s just like, sometimes you don’t want to do something that gives you that much anxiety, so I just be freezing myself, but I have to let that go. I have to release more music — I have to go out there.”
Invasion Of Privacy debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has since been certified multi-platinum by the RIAA, with over four million copies sold in the U.S. alone. The album produced multiple chart-topping singles, including “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” and won Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys.
