Cardi B Believes Same-Sex Sexual Assault Can Cause Homosexuality

Cardi B has never shied away from voicing her opinions on current events and pop culture.

After apparently watching the controversially popular Netflix film Baby Reindeer, the “Like What” rapstress was moved to share a few thoughts on homosexuality. The biographical-drama film in question is based on creator and star, Richard Gadd, who details his experience of being stalked.

It forced him to face his past trauma of being raped by another man, which in return made him question his own sexual identity.

“I watched this show Baby Reindeer on Netflix and I haven’t been able to finish watching it because around the fourth or fifth episode it kind of traumatized me a little bit and it freaked me out,” Cardi told her 168 million followers on Tuesday night (April 23).

Recalling a scene in the film that shows same-sex rape she added, “It’s so important for us to know certain male perspectives about these types of things because women go through a lot of sexual assault, but we don’t really get to hear or see what other men go through when they experience sexual assault.”

“I believe there’s some men that are born gay. I have a cousin that I just knew since he was two years old he was gay,” she continued. “And there’s men that get sexually assaulted then they find out they are gay. People are always going to be judgmental, people are always going to not accept them. Sometimes people don’t even know their story or how they got there.”

The Bronx star then shared the ideology that, “Not everybody is born gay,” going on to detail how Gadd initially identified as heterosexual before he was a victim of SA.

“He started having crazy sex with women, he started having crazy sex with men,” she continued. “He just wanted to identify what he likes, all because he got sexually assaulted.”

The wife and mother-of-two has identified as bisexual in the past.

Following the premiere of her and Normani’s “Wild Side” music video, the ladies were met with much backlash over the racy content found in the visual. Some went as far as to call it “queerbaiting.”

“Uuummmm @RollingStone queer baiting? You do know we was trying to hide a whole baby bump right?,” the 31-year-old responded to a 2021 think-piece written by Rolling Stone titled “Why Queerbaiting Matters More Than Ever.”

“Also I’m married to a man but I have express soo much about my bisexuality and my experiences wit girls,” she added. “All of a sudden ‘queer baiting’ is the new word & people use it to the ground!”
