The Met Gala 2024 might be over, but, as usual, it's a gift that keeps on giving, this time thanks to Cardi B. The rapper has been revealing alternate looks she had considered wearing on fashion’s biggest night, and as it turns out, the options are all head-turning.

On Monday, May 6, Cardi B arrived on the Met Gala red carpet in a stunning black tulle dress with a train so big that it practically covered all the Met stairs.

Although she forgot how to pronounce the name of the brand and the designer's nationality while being interviewed on the red carpet, Cardi B later shared that the gown was from the Chinese label Windowsen, designed by founder Sensen Lii.

Cardi B is known to go all out for the Met Gala, and this year's dress was as showstopping as we'd expect from the Bronx native; however, it was not her only choice. After the ball, Cardi B also revealed that she was also considering a second dress for the Met Gala 2024. On X (formerly Twitter), she shared a video of a dress that looked almost identical to the black one she wore to the red carpet, except it was an aquamarine color instead. She wrote, “Green or Black?”

Fans in the comments couldn't seem to come to a consensus, but some people were very passionate about the alternate dress. In response to someone who asked why she didn’t go with the green, she explained, “It wasn’t photographing well …It translated [differently] on all lighting and angles on camera.”

Cardi B's alternate green dress, however, was far less shocking than her alternate option for makeup. In a TikTok video, Cardi B showed her glam team putting prosthetics on her to make her look older, a nod to “The Garden of Time” theme. She wore the special effects makeup with a short bob speckled with gray hairs to fully commit to the look.

Though she hasn’t specified exactly why she didn’t go with this look — there’s just a short clip of her calling something “risky” and explaining how major red carpets are — in the end, she went without prosthetics and opted for a dramatic beehive hairstyle. Her final choice did make it onto our list of best beauty moments from the Met Gala 2024, but it’s always interesting to see the fitting process behind the scenes.
