Captain Sandy Yawn Officially Marries Leah Shafer
On May 11 in Fort Lauderdale, Captain Sandy Yawn married “the love of my life,” gospel singer Leah Shafer.
Sandy and Leah tied the knot — where else? — on a superyacht lent to them by a friend for their wedding. Fifty-five guests, the maximum allowed aboard She’s a 10 Too, attended the celebration.
The Below Deck Mediterranean captain announced the happy news on her Instagram feed, as well as in The New York Times.

“On May 11th, 2024 I married the love of my life. I had no idea how amazing marriage could be!” Sandy captioned the announcement, which included a carousel of photos from their special day. “It feels incredible, and I feel like the luckiest woman in the world. I love you, Leah Rae Yawn!! Thank you for taking my name! Thank you to our entire family and friends for coming out to show your love and support [for] our relationship.”
The couple of more than six years exchanged vows before friends and family, including some Bravo stars. Below Deck Med’s Aesha Scott and Chef Dave White (who also prepared the wedding feast) were on board, along with Below Deck alum Kate Chastain.
Sandy and Leah first met in 2018 when Leah posted a Facebook comment congratulating Sandy on her success on BDM. But Leah had an anterior motive. “I thought she was hot,” she confessed.
After becoming captain and wife, the couple spent their honeymoon on a boat (of course!) in the Florida Keys. On May 14, Sandy posted a honeymoon photo of Leah at the helm, giving Sandy a break.
“Honeymoon in the keys,” she captioned the photo.
Congratulations to Sandy and Leah! I wish them every happiness and smooth sailing as they cruise through life together.
