Camila Mendes on Riverdale 's Veronica and "Dark Archie"
There's no doubt that Archie has been going through a lot on Riverdale lately, and it's taken a toll on all of his friendships — and his relationship with Veronica. It turns out that Veronica has some feelings about "Dark Archie" as well — and we have to agree with her.
In conversation with Entertainment Weekly, actress Camila Mendes opened up about how Archie's personality changes have been affecting her on-screen character. "Veronica, overall, is pretty scared of how intensely Archie can react to certain things," Camila explained. She went on to comment about Archie's recent scheming with Hiram, adding: "She has, from the beginning, been warning him about her father and how he shouldn’t get in too deep with him for that very reason, that sometimes it gets out of control. So when Veronica sees Archie getting deeper into that, it scares her."
And, according to Camila, things between the fab four are about to get worse before they get better. "Though it seems like they’re deteriorating, they need to go through that obstacle in order to overcome what’s ahead," she explained. "It’ll eventually make them stronger." Luckily, it seems as though Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead will come out OK when all is said and done. "In the end, it’s really them against the world," Camila teased. TBH, we always knew they'd be just fine.
