Céline Dion and Taylor Swift attend the 66th GRAMMY Awards at Crypto.com Arena on February 4, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.

Nearly three months after her surprise appearance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, Céline Dion has shared her thoughts on having the opportunity to present one of the night’s biggest awards amid her ongoing battle with stiff person syndrome.

Dion’s public appearances have been rare since she announced her diagnosis in late 2022. The “My Heart Will Go On” singer surprised music fans who tuned in to watch the 2024 Grammy Awards on Feb. 4 when she unexpectedly walked out onstage to present the Album of the Year award. René-Charles Angélil, Dion’s oldest child with her late husband René Angélil, accompanied her onstage to provide her with his support.

The five-time Grammy winner, 56, presented the trophy to Taylor Swift, who won for her 2022 album Midnights. The award marked a record-breaking win for Swift, who became the first artist to win four Album of the Year Grammys.

Though many fans of Dion and Swift were thrilled to see the two appear onstage together, some people who watched the awards show were frustrated by how the “Cruel Summer” singer acted onstage, with some accusing her of “ignoring” Dion. While the two later took photos together backstage, their awkward onstage moment quickly went viral.

During a recent video fashion segment for Vogue France, the “Power of Love” singer spoke about her appearance at the awards show, which she described as both “nerve-wracking” and a “big honor.”

“To see the fans, to see the crowd, to see show business again,” Dion said while reflecting on the experience. “It took a lot, a lot out of me.”

The singer praised her son for giving her “his support” onstage before addressing her onstage moment with Swift, 34.

“To present the award, the Album of the Year, to Taylor Swift—it’s an honor because she’s having the time of her life, and I’m the one who’s presenting it to her,” Dion said.

Dion also acknowledged how special it was to see how the Grammy Awards’ in-person audience reacted to seeing her appear onstage. “It’s always very, very touching when you have a standing ovation,” she said.

As far as her health is concerned, Dion told Vogue France that she is “well” but “taking it one day at a time.” While she has to “learn to live with” the rare neurological disorder, she hasn’t yet reached a point where she can say whether or when she will return to the stage as a performer.

“As things stand, I can't stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months,’” she told the magazine. "I don't know... My body will tell me.”
