Vanderpump Rules fans will know that the opening of Something About Her was plagued with challenges. In real-time, the store is opening on May 22, 2024. But when Season 11 was being filmed, there was still a lot of uncertainty.

During the recent episode of Pump Rules, Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix spoke with Lisa Vanderpump about their issues with chef/consultant Penny Davidi. The co-owners had trouble agreeing on a contract about salary. Lisa was surprised to hear the news, but supportive of the decision, as her proteges insisted that Penny just wasn’t a good fit for the business.

But Brock Davies waded into the controversy with a claim as to what’s really going on behind the scenes.

Brock claimed to have looked into “the trademark” of the store

The way Katie and Ariana put it on the recent VPR episode, was that they were having “trouble seeing eye-to-eye” with Penny.

“We originally brought Penny on to be our COO and head of back of house,” Katie reiterated the point during the recent episode. “But we are having a little trouble seeing eye-to-eye on what her role will be in our business.”

Their co-stars decided to man-splain about the “female-centric” business during the Vanderpump Rules After Show.

“I looked at the trademark, and the trademark is owned by Penny, the lady they hired,” Brock claimed. “The trademark is owned by her husband, ladies and gentlemen — which means the sandwich brand is owned by Penny and her husband, who is an attorney, a litigator.”

“I know for a fact that they’re having issues trying to get a contract with this woman,” he added.

Katie explained the situation further during an appearance on the Popping Off with Teddi Mellencamp and Emily Simpson podcast.

The Something About Her co-owner dropped the bombshell that, “we’re not working with Penny any longer.”

“You know, I mean, we loved working with Penny, and Penny was great,” she explained. “But ultimately it wasn’t the right fit.”

So, Brock’s claim has yet to be addressed, if it will be at all. Katie and Ariana certainly aren’t indebted to offer any explanation. Most importantly, their store is finally opening.
