SOUTH BEND — American Theatre Guild has announced the lineup for its 2024-25 Broadway in South Bend series:
• “The Cher Show,” Feb. 21–23, 2025: The Tony Award-winning musical tells the pop culture icon’s story, and it’s packed with so much Cher that it takes three women to play her: the kid starting out, the glam pop star and the icon.
• “The Addams Family,” March 14–16, 2025: Based on cartoonist Charles Addams’ creepy and kooky bizarre characters, the musical forces Gomez Addams into a quandary when his grown-up daughter, Wednesday, the ultimate princess of darkness, falls in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family and begs him not to tell her mother, Morticia.
• “Chicago,” April 4–6, 2025: In the whirlwind of Chicago’s Jazz Age, two of the Cook County Jail’s most notorious murderesses — vaudeville star Velma Kelly and chorus girl Roxie Hart — become fierce rivals as they compete for headlines amidst a media frenzy in this 1975 musical by Fred Ebb, Bob Fosse and John Kander.
• “Ain’t Too Proud — The Life and Times of The Temptations,” May 16–18, 2025: The musical follows The Temptations’ extraordinary journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a thrilling story of brotherhood, family, loyalty and betrayal, as the group’s personal and political conflicts threatened to tear them apart during a decade of civil unrest in America.
• “Les Misérables,” Aug. 5–10, 2025: Set against the backdrop of 19th century France and based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo, “Les Misérables” tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption and includes the songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Bring Him Home,” “One Day More” and many more.
The season also includes one add-on show:
• “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.,” March 26, 2025: A concert tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, the show features a live band and vocalists performing Franklin’s biggest hits, including “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Think,” “I Knew You Were Waiting for Me,” “Chain of Fools,” “Respect” and more.
All performances are at the Morris Performing Arts Center, 211 N. Michigan St.
