Britney Spears' mental health battle has been a concern for many over the years.

In 2008, the pop star suffered a very public mental breakdown, which led to her being placed under a conservatorship by her father, Jamie Spears. During that time, Britney was unable to make major personal or financial decisions in her life without the approval of her father.

Britney's estate was under Jamie's control for more than a decade. In 2021, the Free Britney movement gained momentum as the Grammy winner fought in court to end the conservatorship. In November 2021, the judge terminated the conservatorship.

“Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy!!! 🥺❤️,” Britney wrote via Instagram at the time celebrating the court's decision. “I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen???? #FreedBritney.”

Despite the conservatorship ending in 2021, it wasn't until April 2024 that Britney and her estranged father settled the lawsuit. Us confirmed at the time Britney would no longer need to “attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings,” per her lawyer Mathew Rosengart.
