The Boy and the Heron is preparing for its digital and physical release as it becomes the first film from Studio Ghibli to be available in the 4K physical format.

The film from two-time Oscar winner Hayao Miyazaki follows a young boy named Mahito who ventures into a dreamlike world shared by both the living and the dead following the death of his mother.

Following its successful theatrical run, which landed the film $173.3 million at the box office, The Boy and the Heron went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Oscar at the 2024 Academy Awards.

The English-dubbed version features the voices of Robert Pattinson, Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Mamoudou Athie, Willem Dafoe, Florence Pugh and more.

Now, the film is preparing for a digital and physical release.

The Boy and the Heron Digital Release Date

The Boy and the Heron is available for pre-order ahead of its June 25 release date.

You can pre-order in UHD, HD and SD on platforms such as Prime Video and Apple TV, with prices ranging from $14.99 to $19.99.

The Boy and the Heron Physical Release Date

The Boy and the Heron will be available to purchase from July 9.

It will be available in a limited-edition Steelbook, 4K Ultra HD and a Blu-ray and DVD combo.

Prices range from $34.98 for the Blu-ray copy, $39.98 for 4K Ultra HD and $44.98 for the limited edition Steelbook.
