“Bold and the Beautiful” star Kimberlin Brown on Sheila's shocking resurrection: 'This is brilliant'

"My fans and the viewers of this show are the reason, if not the biggest reason, that I'm back."

Reports of Sheila Carter's (Kimberlin Brown) death on The Bold and the Beautiful have been greatly exaggerated.

While the daytime soap villain had been killed off the CBS series only two months ago, Monday's episode revealed that she was actually alive this whole time as head writer Brad Bell reversed his decision on the fan-favorite character's fate. It turns out that the woman killed by Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) in the pivotal February episode was actually Sheila's lookalike Sugar (also played by Brown), who first debuted on The Young and the Restless.

"It definitely has made my year," Brown tells Entertainment Weekly of her surprise return. "She was my happy place. She's a character that Brad's dad, Bill, gave me an opportunity to create and with his guidance to turn into one of the best villains in daytime. It's been a ride — it's going to be very interesting to see where things go from here."

Brown reveals she had no idea that Bell was going to bring her back only months after killing her character on the show. "It was maybe three to four weeks after they after they killed me off," she says of when she learned that she would return. "I was trying to plan for my my next stages in life and figure out what I was going to do and I got a phone call from Brad. It was an awesome phone call to receive, especially after the last meeting that we had previous telling me that he was going to kill me off. It was wonderful."

But it took some time for her to learn how they were going to resurrect Sheila, because Bell didn't know yet how he was going to pull it off.

"When he said that they were going to reverse it, it was very vague," Brown says. "He said they were going to bring me back and I said, 'How?' And he said, 'We're still working on that. We're doing all kinds of research but I just wanted to ask you, would you come back?' And I said, 'Absolutely.' This is a dream come true for me."

When she finally did learn how Sheila's return would be explained on the show, she loved it. "I mean, this is brilliant," she says with a laugh. "What a brilliant way to bring me back — I don't know what he would have come up with otherwise."

Brown is so grateful to the legions of fans who spoke out against her exit, since she believes it's the fan support that helped bring her back.

"Brad listened to the audience. I do believe that," she says. "My fans and the viewers of this show are the reason, if not the biggest reason, that I'm back. I had so many people making so much noise on my behalf, and I'm very thankful for the noise that they made. I can't even put it into words because it leaves me speechless."

She continues, "I mean, you hear people talk about, 'You're an icon in daytime,' and I've never looked at myself as an icon in anything. I just looked at myself as being blessed to do what I do and love what I'm doing. The outpouring of positive quotes and things from fans, it was truly an eye-opening moment for me. It's because of that loyalty that they spoke up and and Brad heard them."
