(WJW) — Earlier this weekend, The Black Keys, a band rooted in Akron that earned global fame, appeared to abruptly cancel its fall tour that had scheduled shows throughout the country and in Cleveland. Now they’re breaking their silence.

“The band wants to assure everyone that Dan [Auerbach] and Patrick [Carney] are alive and well,” they said in an Instagram post.

On Saturday, Ticketmaster showed the Cleveland concert that was set for Oct. 12 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and other concerts across the country, were canceled. Now fans are already getting their money back from Ticketmaster for the shows.

“Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly,” the band continued on in their post.

The band went on to say they apologized for the “surprise change” but said they think fans are going to like the new plans.

The tour was set to showcase the band’s new album, “Ohio Players.”

Prior to Sunday’s post, the band’s most recent post was from last week, sharing a video of their “electrifying” performance on “The Voice” singing “Beautiful People (Stay High).”
