If the last time you tried to eat healthier, you ultimately blew it, your approach could be the culprit. That's because many diets require you to change much more than what you eat, including your preferences and priorities. (#NotHappening.)

But you can improve your diet and your health without pressing reset on the rest of you, according to Biggest Loser Trainer Jen Widerstorm, and author of the new book, Diet Right for Your Personality Type.

Just follow the diet tip most likely to work for you based on your astrological sign and resulting personality type:

Meticulous and diligent Virgos are self-critical and aim for perfection, true Scorpios live with passion and obsessive determination, and Capricorns operate with as much ambition as they do practicality and discipline. Jen calls these signs "Organized Do-ers."

What won't work: Figuring it out as you go, since you're prone to under-eating your way to a perfect plate and you'll beat yourself up for veering off course - especially when that course is undefined.

What works for you: The best eating approach for you involves organization, structure, and routine. Because you're a self-starter and motivated AF, there's nothing you like more than writing lists - and crossing things off those lists. Preparation is your key to success, so at the onset of your week, map out exactly what you're going to eat to meet your goals, including the meals and snack you'll eat all week, and at what times, plus approximate portion sizes.

If you've got the time, you can even prepare and pack your food ahead of time to help you stay on track. Then, log what you actually eat IRL, and use your food log as a reference point to give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back when you stick to the plan. You got this.

Aries are impatient, and live with a sense of adventure and enthusiasm, regularly making quick decisions with confidence. Similarly, charming, sociable Libras are also self-indulgent but easily influenced. It's why both of these signs, which Jen refers to as "Swingers," struggle with commitment.

What won't work: Eating the same thing every single day, or a 12-week transformation plan, since the chances you'll stick it out for three whole months is pitifully low. Snacking throughout the day won't work either, since even planned snacks can lead your sign to graze all day, a habit that can result in weight gain since most people don't compensate for snacking by reducing their intake at mealtimes.

What works for you: If you're a swinger, you often end up bouncing from diet to diet without fully giving yourself a chance to be successful. Luckily, boredom is different from failure, and a diet that involves endless variety can help you achieve your goals before losing interest. So instead of setting out to eat the same things every day, switch up each meal's main proteins and core flavors every day of the week, without replication. Then stick to the endlessly flexible plan like you know you can.

Lively Geminis are adaptable and versatile, but inconsistent; freedom-loving Sagittariuses operate with blind optimism, but can be restless; and Pisces, who come from a place of compassion and imagination, have escapist tendencies.

What won't work: If you're one of these signs, which Jen refers to as "Rebels," you're not exactly the perfect candidate for a rigid, three-meals-per-day diet plan. That's because you have a marked distaste for restrictions, and you prefer to be unpredictable.

What works for you: Instead of trying to commit to a specific diet, set gentle boundaries like eating the protein of your choice, but in reasonable portions.

To break the breakfast/lunch/dinner mold, aim for up to five small meals a day, and always prepare for the unexpected by stowing filling snacks like whole fruits, baby carrots, and snap peas in your bag or car. That way, when hunger hits, you've got a healthy option on hand (and no excuse to abandon your good intentions).

Warmhearted Tauruses are reliable and persistent with their love, and Leos are generous, faithful, and extremely loyal. If you're one of these signs, which Jen refers to as "Everyday Heroes," you tend to prioritize yourself last, putting the needs of family members, friends, and partners ahead of your own. In the course of catering to others, though, you forget to eat or default to eating whatever's around, which can stand between you and your personal goals.

What won't work: Meal prep, since you're just not going to carve out enough me-time to do it today, tomorrow, or ever.

What works for you: Your best bet in improving your eating habits is to remove all time-consuming obstacles and settle on a go-to meal you can easily get your hands on for breakfast and/or lunch. If you're up for going homemade, this could be a shake made with a scoop of protein powder, two cups of almond milk, 2 percent milk, or water, and ice, plus a tablespoon of nut butter. And if you'd rather eat out, identify a minimally processed grab-and-go option containing protein, fiber, and healthy fats that you can easily purchase without going out of your way.

Aquariuses are independent and intellectual, but often contrary with a tendency to slip into detachment. Meanwhile, intuitive Cancers are shrewd and protective, but emotionally moody and occasionally stubborn. If you're one of these signs, which Jen calls "Never Evers," you tend to be defiant. When your pants begin to feel a little tight, you're more likely to buy a larger size than address how your habits are affecting your health - one reason why you end up feeling stuck and give up on efforts to improve your health before seeing actual progress.

What won't work: Feigning ignorance - and you do tend to avoid information that would otherwise drive you to take action. Setting lofty short-term goals, like squeezing into a skimpy dress you bought for a spring wedding, won't help you either since you need to see the big picture to succeed.

What works for you: You'll do much better when you open your eyes, actually acknowledge nutritional facts, and envision how your actions will affect your long-term goals, like being healthy enough to have kids or keep up with the ones you've got. You're too smart to let yourself down by making the wrong choices when you know better.
