Below Deck Season 11: Best Moments So Far
Season 11 of Below Deck has been quite the whirlwind. Not only has the St. David lost three crew members in one charter season but the drama has been superb. The cast, for the most part, seems to be getting along. But as you’d expect, there have been some boatmances, firings, and catty remarks. With only a few charters left, it was time to look into the best moments so far. So here is what we found!
Panini problems
There is a quote that loose lips sink ships, but it turns out it is forgetting to make the primary a lobster grilled cheese that sinks ships and careers. During the most recent episode of Below Deck, Captain Kerry Titheradge realized he had to make some changes within the galley. Chef Anthony Iracane was dropping the ball for a few charters now, and the decision to cut the Frenchman loose came after several complaints. This episode showed Anthony running around like a chicken with his head cut off. The final straw seemed to be his lack of preparedness when it came to the beach picnic.
Captain Kerry was kind in his dismissal, telling Anthony, “I think you’re an incredible chef. Your food is absolutely amazing. But you’re starting to kind of nosedive.” Like an ostrich, the chef pretended not to understand what the Captain was talking about, saying, “I don’t really know what you’re talking about. People, every day, tell me I’m the most amazing chef in the world. So, every people is full of sh*t?” To be honest, this was one of the best moments because I’ve never seen someone take a firing so hard before.
Red carpet treatment
During the same episode, the primaries were lacking a bit in self-confidence—so much so that they wanted the crew to literally roll out the red carpet and pretend to be paparazzi. Did I forget to mention they also wanted to be addressed as the king and queen? I mean, there is no monarchy in Grenada. Scratch that technicality—it is a part of the Commonwealth. But these guests have no relation to King Charles III, so it was absurd.
Anthony and Fraser’s friendship
Since the premiere episode, Season 11 has shown a quite beautiful friendship forming between Fraser Olender and Anthony. The two bonded over being able to communicate in French and their love of travel. But perhaps the most moving moment was when Anthony opened up about losing his father. The chief stew made sure to hug his friend on the anniversary of his father’s death and noted he would be there all day for him if needed. It isn’t often that Bravo viewers get to see a purely positive moment, but this was just so lovely and memorable. I hope they continue to stay close.
Ben’s promotion
So it was clear from day one that Ben Willoughby wanted to be bosun. However, at that moment in time, Jared Woodin held that title. For multiple episodes, Ben bitched about how bad of a job he was doing and, once he was let go, quickly jumped into the lead position. It wasn’t a good look for Ben, to be honest, but the promotion seemed to stick.
However, in a bit of a karmic backlash when it came time for him to pick his lead deckhand, Ben was forced to deal with one angry crew member. The choice was clear, and Ben picked Sunny Marquis. She is cheerful, knows the boat, and is teachable. But Dylan Pierre De Villiers was less than pleased and accused Ben of thinking with his small head. While it was a pain for Ben to have to explain himself, viewers enjoyed watching production’s montage of how he had complained about Jared. As they say, “karma is a b*tch.”
Barbie breaks down
Barbie Pascual came in hot as she presented herself as some sort of princess. The stew rubbed Fraser the wrong way with her spoiled upbringing, and the two just couldn’t get it together. Between her cold shoulder and Fraser’s constant shade, their interactions have been pretty entertaining. At first, I dubbed her Drama Queen Barbie, but on the crew’s day off, I felt empathy for the Argentinian native. She ended up walking away to a secluded part of the beach and crying. I mean, come on, that’s sad!
She then decided to call her mother while in the changing rooms to complain about the chief stew, only for the rest of the crew to overhear. But perhaps the best moment of the evening was when the entire crew of the St. David were seated at the dinner table. Barbie proceeded to raise her glass and cheers to her and Fraser’s issues.
