Bella Hadid Unfollows Selena Gomez on Instagram After Those Pics With the Weeknd

Someone (maybe) broke the girl code. Hint: It’s Selena Gomez — and she seems to be in hot water with her former squad mate, Bella Hadid. Here’s the backstory, just in case you’re unfamiliar with it all. On Tuesday night, Gomez and Hadid’s ex-boyfriend the Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) were spotted making out in front of Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.

The “Hands to Myself” singer had her arms draped around the Weeknd’s neck, and the pair didn’t seem to be making any effort to hide their romantic feelings. Hadid, who split from the Weeknd just two months ago after dating for nearly two years — which is a really long time when you’re only 20 years old — seemed none too pleased about this development.

Shortly after the photos of Gomez and the “Starboy” singer hanging all over each other surfaced, the model unfollowed Gomez on Instagram as seen in comparison screenshots posted on Elle.com. Interestingly, though, Hadid still appears to be following the Weeknd.

The two young women happen to run in the same circle of friends and are both members of Taylor Swift‘s infamous girl squad (a group that is allegedly all about women supporting each other and all of that other girl-power jazz). Their paths also crossed in various ways at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. In 2015, Gomez and the Weeknd sang onstage together, and at one point he even bowed down to her while performing. In 2016, he had to serenade (sort of) Hadid as she strutted her stuff down the catwalk, even though they had broken up only weeks earlier. It was kind of awkward.

While Hadid was busy unfollowing Gomez on Instagram, however, the Weeknd seemed to be off in his own world, posting a pic of himself (without any woman by his side) hanging out in some sort of glamorous warehouse for luxury sports cars. In other words, he wasn’t worried.

Hadid posted to the social media site as well, sharing a sexy snap of herself lounging on the beach in a skimpy bikini with a huge, beaming smile on her face. The pic showed off her enviable physique (just in case the Weeknd forgot what he was missing). “Where i belong,” she succinctly captioned the pic.

Meanwhile, photographer Mert Alas posted this cheeky thong snap of Gomez.

So far both Gomez ex Justin Bieber and resident girl squad leader Taylor Swift have stayed out of the fray and not commented on the apparent rift between the two former friends. This does seem like good fodder for a future Swift ballad, though … so at least there’s that.
