Winona and Jenna, together at last.

On Thursday, Warner Bros. released the full trailer for Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice 2” – officially known as “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” – giving fans their first look at Gen X’s goth teen icon Winona Ryder and Gen Z’s goth teen icon Jenna Ortega on screen together in the sequel to the 1988 horror comedy.

The new trailer brings back the trailercore version of “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” from first teaser (which I choose to believe is supposed to be an ironic parody of gloomy covers of upbeat songs trailer trend, because the alternative is too bleak), plus better looks at Ryder as now-adult goth Lydia Deetz, Ortega as her daughter Astrid, and, of course, Michael Keaton as Tex Avery-esque demon Betelgeuse.

The trailer introduces the plot of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” in which Lydia returns to Connecticut for her father’s funeral. She tells her daughter the story of how she once summoned a demon who wanted to marry her and created chaos in her and her family’s life for a while. And wouldn’t you know it, Astrid says his name three times, and he’s back for more mischief.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is a reunion for director Burton and stars Ryder, Keaton, and Catherine O’Hara, who all starred in the original film, as well as a continuation of the active working relationship of Burton, Ortega, and screenwriters Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, who all make “Wednesday” together. (Seth Grahame-Smith shares a story by credit with Gough & Millar.)

New cast members include Justin Theroux as a goth named Rory, Monica Bellucci as Betelgeuse’s wife, and Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson, a late B-movie star who, in the afterlife, has found a new job as a ghost detective.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” starts haunting theaters on Sept. 6.
