Bebe Rexha reveals she's been diagnosed with bipolar disorder: 'I'm not ashamed anymore'

Bebe Rexha promises that she’ll be more honest than ever on her upcoming album.

The Grammy-nominated singer revealed on social media Monday that one of the subjects she’ll address is that she’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Rexha was emotional about the subject, as she asked fans to accept her for who she is.

She explained that she wasn’t asking people to feel sorry for her with her revelation.

Her fans quickly piped up about their love for the “Meant to Be” singer. They reassured her of their support and some of them said they were dealing with their own health struggles.

In the past, Rexha has been just as candid about her body. She was upset when designers declined to dress her for the Grammy Awards in February. Rexha said that she was told that, at a size 6 or 8, she was “too big.”

“If a size 6/8 is too big, then I don't know what to tell you,” Rexha said in a social media post. “Then I don’t want to wear your f------ dresses. ‘Cause that’s crazy. You’re saying all the women in the world that are a size 8 and up are not beautiful and they cannot wear your dresses.”

Several designers then offered to work with her on a dress, and she ended up wearing Monsoori.

Rexha told Newsweek in March that the reaction she’d received on that occasion taught her something about herself and the kind of artist she wants to be.

“It’s kind of funny. A lot of people know me more about this than anything else that I’ve done musically overall,” Rexha told the magazine, “That’s kind of amazing. I don’t mind that. I want to be known for my art but I also want to help people and stand for something.”
