Bebe Rexha promises that she’ll be more honest than ever on her upcoming album.
The Grammy-nominated singer revealed on social media Monday that one of the subjects she’ll address is that she’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
For the longest time, I didn’t understand why I felt so sick. Why I felt lows that made me not want to leave my house or be around people and why I felt highs that wouldn’t let me sleep, wouldn’t let me stop working or creating music. Now I know why.— Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) April 15, 2019
I’m bipolar and I’m not ashamed anymore. That is all. (Crying my eyes out.)— Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) April 15, 2019
Rexha was emotional about the subject, as she asked fans to accept her for who she is.
This next album will be favorite album ever because I’m not holding anything back. I love you all very much. And I hope you accept me as I am.— Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) April 15, 2019
She explained that she wasn’t asking people to feel sorry for her with her revelation.
I don’t want you to feel sorry for me. I just want you to accept me. That’s all. Love you.— Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) April 15, 2019
Her fans quickly piped up about their love for the “Meant to Be” singer. They reassured her of their support and some of them said they were dealing with their own health struggles.

Baby, you're the most incredible woman I've ever met, I love everything about you and your faults are just a part of you. You are my inspiration.♡— Juuh vai ver o Liam (@hazzy_malik) April 15, 2019
You are so talented and amazing and everyone loves you for who you are. Being bipolar doesn’t define who you are and no one should judge you based on it. You write epic songs and are a fantastic performer! Much love ❤️— Two Of Us (@LovinmyLouis) April 15, 2019
We love you so much and you'll never be alone!! Thank you so much for always being here for us! ❤️— m •#LastHurrah✝️ (@lovatorexha1) April 15, 2019
In the past, Rexha has been just as candid about her body. She was upset when designers declined to dress her for the Grammy Awards in February. Rexha said that she was told that, at a size 6 or 8, she was “too big.”
“If a size 6/8 is too big, then I don't know what to tell you,” Rexha said in a social media post. “Then I don’t want to wear your f------ dresses. ‘Cause that’s crazy. You’re saying all the women in the world that are a size 8 and up are not beautiful and they cannot wear your dresses.”
Several designers then offered to work with her on a dress, and she ended up wearing Monsoori.
Rexha told Newsweek in March that the reaction she’d received on that occasion taught her something about herself and the kind of artist she wants to be.
“It’s kind of funny. A lot of people know me more about this than anything else that I’ve done musically overall,” Rexha told the magazine, “That’s kind of amazing. I don’t mind that. I want to be known for my art but I also want to help people and stand for something.”
