Mar. 20—The following is an overview of special events and activities planned at the Batesville Memorial Public Library in April.

Apr. 1 at 10 or 11 a.m. — Mother Goose Toddler Time for ages 0-3. Miss Sarah will host a 30 minute session designed to stimulate the learning process of babies and toddlers. Registration not required.

Apr. 2 at 10 a.m., 2 and 6 p.m. — There's no time like Storytime! Join us every Tuesday for a fun filled 45 minute session that incorporates books, songs, and activities to build early literacy skills. This program is geared towards children ages 3 to 6. Registration not required.

Apr. 2 at 4 p.m. — Story Seekers Book Club — Participants will discuss the book of their choice and start reading Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson. This book club is for grades 3rd — 8th and meets the first Tuesday of the month. To learn more visit ebatesville.com/events.

Apr. 4 at 1 p.m. — Adult Felting Class — April brings us a joyous occasion! We are thrilled to announce the return of our esteemed instructor, Janet Paden, who will guide us again. As we extend our warmest welcome to Janet, we also embrace the return of spring's feathered friends in crafting our very own birds this month. Registration is required.

Apr. 4 at 4 p.m. — Thursday Craft Day: UV Bead Key Chains — Get excited for the eclipse by creating backpack keychains or bracelets using UV Beads! This program is for children in grades 1st to 6th. Registration is required.

Apr. 4 at 5 p.m. — Nanny the Dog — Eli's Dog Club presents: Bunnies, Bingo and Doggie Snuggles! Stop in to visit with Nanny the dog, play bingo and take a bunny photo with Nany and do an egg hunt. She will be in the Activity Lab in the Children's area from 5-6. Registration not required., just stop by!

Apr. 4 at 6:30 p.m. — BMPL Eclipse Series Guest Speaker — Q and A with Ann P. McMahon Ph.D. — Ann P McMahon, Ph.D., will be our final Guest Speaker before the eclipse. She will cover a variety of topics as well as field any remaining questions you may have. Questions will be accepted during the presentation, but they can also be emailed in advance to rachael@ebatesville.com. Free information talk to the public. Registration not required. Eclipse glasses for those who attend.

Apr. 8 — All day — BMPL will be closed in observance of the Solar Eclipse. Our online resources are available at www.ebatesville.com.

Apr. 9 at 1 p.m. — Spring Fever — A BMPL Homeschool Program. Participants will measure with springs, paint with springs, play with springs! It's all about Springs. This program is for grades 1st — 6th. Registration is required.

Apr. 9 at 6:30 p.m. — Aging Care Series: Home Safety for Seniors — Statistics show that over 50% of all accidents occur in the home, and for senior adults, that statistic is even higher. The good news is there are simple changes you can make to your home or the home of an aging loved one that can help lessen the chances of a home accident. There is more to it than just picking up the throw rugs and staying off ladders! Join us as we move from room to room with tips on increasing your safety in every room of the house and beyond. Apr. 11 at 1 p.m. — Succulent Planter — Adult Craft — Celebrate Earth Day with a creative twist by joining our adult crafting class! In this event, we'll upcycle tin cans into charming succulent planters. Registration is required.

Apr. 13 from 10 a.m. — 1 p.m. — Free Community Paper Shredding — Free Shredding Event. 5 Box Limit. Truck will leave before 1 p.m. if it is full. Items that will be accepted: Office Paper; Computer Paper; Copy Paper; Post-It Notes; Note Pads (no metal bindings); Magazines; Newspapers; Envelopes w/windows; Manilla Folders, Hanging File Folders; Staples; Binder Clips; Paper Clips; Rubber Bands. Pull in the parking lot of the library and unload.

Apr. 16 at 1:30 p.m. — A Novel Idea Book Club (Adult) — A Novel Idea is BMPL's book club. Join us each month to explore and discuss the month's book. Retired English teacher Steve Holland is our book guide. The April selection is Sick Puppy by Carl Hiaasen. Registration not required.

Apr. 18 at 1 or 6 p.m. — Glass Fusing — Join us for a hands-on crafting experience where you'll create your own stunning fused glass garden stake! No prior experience is necessary. Our expert instructor, Mary Burk of She Shed Glass Studio, will guide you step-by-step through glass fusing. Using specially selected glass pieces, you'll design and assemble a unique 3x3 garden stake that will add a touch of elegance to any garden or patio. This class will last approximately 90 minutes. No cost program. Registration is required.

Apr. 18 at 4 p.m. — Kids Who Code: Sphero Coding — This is a NEW BMPL youth program! Interested in computer coding? Join us to put together our knowledge of Sphero robots and Scratch Coding to make our Sphero's go places! New to the program? Don't worry, we will catch you up! This program is for children in 1st to 6th grade. Registration is required.

Apr. 23 at 6 p.m. — Poetry Night — Join Indiana poet Skye Nicholson for an evening of poetry! Skye will lead off the night by performing pieces from her newly released second book, The Other Side of the Stars. Following a brief QandA, audience members can share their poetry (or read a favorite poem) in an "Open Mic" style setting. Skye will have copies of her three books available for purchase.

Apr. 24 at 2 p.m. — Remember When Storytime (Adults) — Join us for an afternoon of real-life narratives, where we share heartfelt and captivating experiences. Join us to connect, share, and embrace the beauty of real-life tales! Registration not required.

Apr. 25 at 10 a.m. or 4 p.m. — Thursday Littles Craft: Egg Carton Flowers Craft — Join us to create flowers from egg cartons! This program is for children in Preschool and Kindergarten. Registration is required.
