Author Jennifer Weiner Signs With Verve (Exclusive)

Jennifer Weiner, the author of the Good in Bed novel being produced by Mindy Kaling for Max, has signed with Verve for film and TV representation.

The bestselling author, backed by Verve, will look to future screen adaptations of her library titles as they find new audiences. In all, she has written 21 books, with 11 million copies printed in 36 languages.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Verve. I am so impressed by the energy and passion of the team, and excited about the possibilities of sharing my stories with audiences around the world,” Weiner said in a statement Friday.

Good in Bed, Weiner’s literary debut, is in development with Kaling to star in and produce along with Good Fear Content, with the novel’s writer executive producing. The semi-autobiographical story centers on an up-and-coming journalist in Philadelphia who deals with shaky self-esteem, a fresh-out-of-the-closet mom, an absent father and the guy who broke her heart.

In the course of one eventful year, with the help of a fairy godmother/movie star best friend, the journalist weathers public humiliation, finds true love and learns to accept herself, and her life, in all of its messy, imperfect glory.

Weiner’s other book adaptations include In Her Shoes, which became a movie starring Toni Collette, Cameron Diaz and Shirley MacLaine; and Mrs. Everything, currently in development with Sister Pictures, with Weiner also executive producing. She has also written Summer Place, That Summer and Big Summer.

Weiner also pens essays on family, feminism, body issues and pop culture for The New York Times.

Weiner signed a five-book deal with William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. The first one, The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits, is set in the pop music world of the early aughts and the present day and centers on three women who come to know the rewards — and costs — of fame. It will be published in 2025.

Weiner’s literary agent is Celeste Fine, partner and co-founder of Park & Fine Literary and Media. She is also represented by Good Fear Content and attorney Joe Weiner of Miloknay Weiner.
