Austin's Blues on the Green canceled for 2024 citing rising costs. Here's what we know.

Say it isn't so.

Austin's beloved free summer music gathering, Blues on the Green, in Zilker Park seems to be no more. At least for 2024.

Word quickly spread around social media Wednesday after Austin City Limits Radio posted a notice citing "rising costs" as the reason the more than 30-year music event would be canceled for 2024.

Organizers of the event hope to "work with the city, community and sponsors to return sometime soon."

Blues on the Green has a long, storied history in Austin

This were to be the 33rd season for the concert series, which is the only concert event other than Austin City Limits Festival to take place in Zilker Park each year. What was once a summer-long bash has contracted over the years. After taking 2020 off due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the event returned in 2021 with with four shows booked on back to back dates in July and August. The August events that year were canceled due to the spike of the omicron variant of COVID-19.

Last year, Zilker Park hosted Blues on the Green for two nights.
