Astrologer Lisa Stardust offers advice for manifesting your way through 2022’s 4 Mercury retrogrades
When the new year approaches we can’t help but wonder what it will bring.
Lisa Stardust is a New York City-based astrologer with 15 years of experience. She spoke with In The Know about her 2022 astrology predictions. Stardust covered everything from how to navigate next year’s four Mercury retrogrades, what each sign should manifest and what will be 2022’s major themes. After the past few chaotic years, it looks like the next one is all about self-care and self-love.
What to manifest in 2022
“2022 will have its tense moments, but overall, it’s a year that is urging us to make major financial and romantic decisions,” Stardust told In The Know. “This is a time when we will be focusing on radical self-love and care, before anything or anyone else.”
“Putting ourselves first won’t be easy. However, we will come to see that we have to lean into our dreams and open ourselves to giving, accepting, and being in love,” she added.
Stardust says that on April 12, 2022, Jupiter and Neptune will be in conjunction in Pisces which will spark these revelations.
What each zodiac sign should manifest in 2022
Aries: Instead of making impulsive purchases, start saving money by sticking to a financial plan. Then, you’ll be able to have cash for a rainy day.
Taurus: This year puts you in the spotlight. Being comfortable with fame and acclaim will be hard, as long as you allow yourself to be present and enjoy the ride.
Gemini: Although you’re a workaholic, you’re focusing on R&R this year. Learn to say “no” and to keep boundaries by putting yourself first.
Cancer: Aligning with a new group of friends will take you out of your comfort zone, but will be rewarding. Attend group activities that you connect with on a soulful level.
Leo: Finding a balance in life is key, especially when it comes to work and home life. You’re going to have to prioritize certain aspects of life and give up opportunities that aren’t important.
Virgo: Open your mind this year and give yourself the chance to see different perspectives. Reading, travel and embracing new opportunities will allow you to do so.
Libra: In order to attain confidence, state daily positive affirmations in front of a mirror to bring good vibes and energy into your life.
Scorpio: There is a fear around giving your all to another. The only way to add love is to stop having to control the outcome and surrender to your emotions.
Sagittarius: This is a year of connecting your mind, body, and spirit. That means meditating, yoga, and healthy routines are things that you should manifest. One way to do this is to stick to a schedule.
Capricorn: Invest in your creative sentiments and leave the corporate ideology behind. This is easy to do as long as you embrace your artistic talent.
Aquarius: Although you’re known to be independent, connect with your ancestors and family. Honor the past by remembering and giving love to your brood.
Pisces: This is a time to take your power back. Stop doubting and ignoring your intuition and learn to trust it. Start journaling to help take note of your clairvoyance.
How to prepare for the four Mercury retrogrades of 2022
These retrogrades will bring major cosmic shifts and changes in 2022. Because the retrogrades will happen in air and earth signs, we can expect them to cause some reflecting on our partners and finances.
“Contrary to popular belief, retrogrades are a time of reflection and somewhat erratic activity — not necessarily the doom and gloom that we all think. If used correctly, we can make major changes in our lives that will affect us for years to come in amazing ways,” Stardust said.
Stardust’s advice on each of 2022’s Mercury retrogrades
Mercury Rx 1: This retrograde is urging us to see the bigger picture in life, instead of the macro. Allowing yourself to step out of your comfort zone and to let go of the past isn’t something that will be easy, but it’s important. Where do you feel valued? What do you value? Think about that space and place. Move towards it.

Mercury Rx 2: Again, we are being asked to get out of our heads and to focus on things that matter on a soulful level. This retrograde is about building a strong foundation. The areas where the cracks in relationships or professional endeavors are starting to show will become eroded and ready to change. Instead of trying to end matters, work on mending them to create a stronger base.

Mercury Rx 3: Are there any imbalances within partnerships? This is the time to take stock of relationships and situations that are off-center and balanced. It may be time to give TLC to things that we’ve been neglecting and learn not take them for granted. On the contrary, we may find that we don’t want to invest more energy in certain matters that aren’t giving us the payback or reciprocation that we need/want.
On Sept. 9, 2022 at 7:32 PM PST, Mercury turns retrograde in Libra. On Oct. 2, 2022 at 12:58 AM PST, Mercury turns direct in Virgo.
Mercury Rx 4: This retrograde is all about money and work. There will be huge shifts that occur in the workplace or the way we do work and make money. Start investing in or learning more about Bitcoin ASAP because it may be a key component in this retrograde. Also, the stock market may be erratic during this time as well.
On Dec. 29, 2022 at 1:25 AM PDT, Mercury turns retrograde in Capricorn. On Jan. 18, 2023 at 5:08 AM PDT Mercury turns direct in Capricorn.
Things to consider in 2022
“2022 is all about love,” Stardust said. “Yes, there will be some hiccups along the way because nothing is perfect. However, this is a time of allowing ourselves to commit to who and what we love, no matter what anyone else has to say. For the first time in a very long time, we are doing what we want to do and not paying attention to what other people have to say.”
Key astrological dates for 2022:
2022 starts mid-Venus retrograde. The planet of love and money will be winding down its backspin that began on December 19, 2021, on Jan. 29 in Capricorn.
The first Venus Star Point of 2022 occurs mid-Venus retrograde on Jan. 8 in Capricorn. The second one occurs on Oct. 22 in Libra. This is an energetically potent time for manifesting love and money when the Sun, Earth and Venus unite in the sky.
Mercury will be retrograde four times in 2022: Jan. 14 to Feb. 3 in Aquarius and Capricorn, May 10 to June 3 in Gemini and Taurus, Sept. 9 to Oct. 2 in Libra and Virgo and Dec. 29 to Jan. 18, 2023 in Capricorn.
The North Node of Destiny moves into the lovely sign Taurus on Jan. 18. The South Node will be in Scorpio. This means that it’s time to prioritize self-care, love, money, confidence, and pleasure — as well as building a strong foundation.
The eclipses of 2022 will occur on April 30 (solar eclipse in Taurus), May 16 (lunar eclipse in Scorpio), Oct. 25 (solar eclipse in Scorpio) and Nov. 8 (lunar eclipse in Taurus).
Venus and Mars connect two times in 2022: Feb. 12 on Capricorn and March 12 in Aquarius. These are important times for taking action (Mars) around love (Venus).
Action planet Mars will be moonwalking from Oct. 30 and lasts until Jan. 12, 2023, in Gemini. Words can hurt, which is why we’ll have to choose kindness.
Big-hearted Jupiter and tender Neptune link up in Pisces on April 12, starting a new romantic dream.
Lucky Jupiter enters Aries from May 10 to. Oct. 28. Then, re-enters Pisces from Oct. 28 to Dec. 20. Jupiter finishes out the year in Aries from Dec. 20 until May 16, 2023.
Rebellious Uranus and the North Node of Destiny connect in Taurus on July 31, urging us to embrace new mindsets and break free of old patterns.
