Art on the Alley will bring music, food and vendors to downtown New Philadelphia on Sunday

NEW PHILADELPHIA ‒ Council had a light agenda on Monday with three council members absent.

During the session:

  • Mayor Joel Day reminded residents that Art on the Alley is scheduled for this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown New Philadelphia. He described it as one of the biggest arts-centered events in eastern Ohio. All vendor spots have sold out. There will be three stages of live entertainment, food trucks and food vendors. Parking will be available in the county lots on First Drive NE and Second Street NE and in the city/county lots at First Drive and Front Avenue SE.

  • The mayor also noted that grant funding wasn't awarded by the state for completion of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail to New Philadelphia. But he noted there are other state and federal grant programs that can be used to obtain funding for the project.

  • The next council meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. May 30, a Thursday. The meeting is being moved because Monday that week, the regularly scheduled time for the meeting, is Memorial Day.
