The widower of a former Arizona prosecutor shot and killed his girlfriend and her mother on Christmas Eve before turning the gun on himself, police say, according to multiple reports.

David DeNitto, 47, killed Maryalice “Molly” Cash, 47, and Cindy Domini, 83, in his home, reported NBC News, AZ Family and the Arizona Republic, citing authorities. Cash and Domini were taken to the hospital where they died, while DeNitto was pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene, the outlets reported.

Police told the Republic that prior to the shooting, an altercation had broken out at a holiday party at the home. It’s not clear if anyone else was home at the time of the shooting, according to the report.

The outlets reported that DeNitto was previously married to Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel, who became prosecutor in 2019. Adel was hospitalized with a brain hemorrhage in 2020 and resigned in 2022, a year after she sought rehabilitation for alcohol abuse and eating disorders. She died a month after her resignation.

“It is impossible to comprehend a tragedy such as this,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement. “Words cannot adequately express the flood of sorrow. I ask the community to join me in praying for the families affected and, most especially, Allister’s children. I also ask that the community surround the families with love, kindness, and a respect for the need for privacy.”

AZ Family reported that Cash and Domini were huge sports fans and would frequently watch the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals at a local bar.

Friends of Cash's started a GoFundMe to raise money for her and her mother’s funeral. It has already raised over $18,000.

“Funds will help the Domini family with the cost of funeral services for both of these wonderful ladies, as well as the celebration of life after the church services,” the GoFundMe organizer wrote.
