Ariana Grande’s fans probably assumed that her divorce from Dalton Gomez was a done deal, but California has a six-month waiting period after the papers are filed. So, her marriage officially ended on Tuesday, per the Associated Press, and she is free to pursue her relationship with her boyfriend, Ethan Slater, beyond their current dating status.

In addition to the 30-year-old’s newfound single status, the financial details of her divorce were also revealed, and it looks like the process was pretty clean and simple. The former couple adhered to the prenuptial agreement they had signed ahead of their 2021 wedding with Gomez receiving a one-time payment of $1.25 million and no alimony. The real estate broker also received 50% of the proceeds from the sale of their Los Angeles estate and up to $25,000 to pay off his attorneys’ fees. This agreement was settled in October ahead of the judge’s sign-off on their divorce this month.

Grande and Gomez’s romance was likely heightened by the pandemic as they began dating in January 2020 and quickly quarantined together. By December 2020, they were engaged, and they walked down the aisle five months later in a quiet ceremony at her Montecito home. Their marital bubble created by the lockdown was soon interrupted by Grande’s move to London while she filmed two Wicked movies back-to-back. The distance created troubles in their union, and the rumors that the “Thank U, Next” singer was having an affair with co-star, Ethan Slater, probably didn’t help either.

“She was happy in Los Angeles for a couple of years. She wanted to make a life there with Dalton,” a source told People about the reasons for Grande and Gomez’s split in July 2023. “He is super focused on his career and needs to live in Los Angeles. It’s definitely been an issue for them. Dalton’s career is demanding, and he can’t leave Los Angeles often. So when [Grande] started filming Wicked in England, they were in for a long-distance marriage.”

Even though Grande and Slater reportedly deny that their marriages overlapped with their relationship, the timeline is still murky. They have not made an official red carpet couple debut either, likely because Slater’s divorce from ex-wife Lilly Jay is still pending. With Grande moving on, and Gomez romantically linked to actress Maika Monroe, it sounds like everyone is moving ahead amicably.
