Area Happenings: Fish fries, jazz festival, craft show, egg hunts

Ladies Night Out at Lehmans, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Lehmans, 4779 Kidron Road, Kidron. The event will feature make-it-take-it demonstrations and food. Each ticket holder will receive a free gift bag (while supplies lasts) worth over $30 including a $10 off coupon. Walk through the store to find food samples, play a game of bingo and take fun pictures in the photo booth.

Fish Fry, 5-7 p.m. Friday, St. Stephen's Church, Hackman Hall, 44 Britton St., West Salem; $13.50 for choice of entree.

Lenten Fish Dinner, Boy Scout Troop 68, 5-7 p.m. Friday, Church of the Cross, 5100 Cleveland Road, Wooster. Meals are $12 and included fried pollock, baked potato, apple sauce, roll with butter and a dessert. Dine-in or pick-up.

Clara's Journey to Queen, 7 p.m. Friday, Blue Macaroon Theater, 84 1/2 N. Portage St., Doylestown. When her cat is kidnapped and her love is taken away from her, she risks it all to escape her family’s expectations. She learns of love, betrayal, and what it truly means to have a best friend forever. A happy ending for a coming of age story, she learns and adapts for what is her calling.

Maplerock Jazz Festival, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Ashland University's Center for the Arts, 331 College Ave., Hugo Young Theatre. The event mixes internationally-recognized jazz artists as well as regional scholastic groups. Tickets for the concert can be purchased at ashland.edu/performing-arts-tickets in advance or cash-only tickets the night of the show. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students. AU students are admitted free.

Spring Craft Show and Vendor Fair, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, 6780 Center Road, Valley City. Free admission. Guests and vendors are encouraged to take a canned good or paper product to help area needy. Items are donated to area food kitchens. Amy’s Rustic Event Center is located downtown Valley City on Main Street and formerly known as the Historic Valley City Tack shop.

Rittman Easter Egg Hunt, 1 p.m. Saturday, Calvary Baptist Church, 516 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman. The event and activities are free to attend. Pictures with the Easter Bunny (take a camera), face painting, hot dogs, snacks and drinks, bounce house (weather permitting) games and prizes will be available.

The Fun Center Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus, 3 p.m. Saturday, Lexington High School auditorium. The show will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chordsmen. The guest quartet,  ReRouted, will perform as well as quartets from within the Chordsmen. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $5 for students.

Orrville Rotary Club Pancake Day, 7 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 20, Trinity United Methodist Church. Proceeds will allow the club to continue providing scholarships to students, provide funding for inbound and outbound exchange students, donate funds for community projects and nonprofits, and expand the flag project. Tickets are a suggested donation of $7 and kids 5-and-under eat free.

Ten Weeks of Tasty, through April 26, downtown Wooster. Each drink shop and restaurant brings its own signature flare to their establishment, and they will be highlight. Beginning Thursday enjoy the highlighted restaurant, and on Friday's enjoy a drink shop highlighted. The rotation will be followed for 10 weeks.
