Anya Taylor-Joy may have skipped the 2024 Met Gala, but she still nailed the dress code from afar. The actress is in Mexico City promoting her new film Furiosa, a prequel to 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road, and she is delivering look after look.
For her latest red carpet, which coincided with the Met Gala, Anya Taylor-Joy opted for something befitting of both her futuristic dystopian film and the Met's “Garden of Time” dress code.
Though miles away from the Met, the 28-year-old unintentionally nailed the theme in a custom Balmain mini-dress. The look was a sleeveless, metal mini-dress that featured a grouping of metal roses on the left and right shoulders. Frankly speaking, don't we see this working for fashion's biggest night as well?
The actor's look was structural in the same way body armor would be. (For the Met Gala, Balmain also made a custom piece for Tyla, that was just as sculptural. Sensing a theme?) As the dress can literally and figuratively stand on its own, Taylor-Joy paired it with only clear heels and a bright red lip.
Throughout the Furiosa press tour, we've dubbed Anya Taylor-Joy the class VP of the school of archival dressing after she wore a one-of-a-kind couture look that was assembled by Paco Rabanne himself. Furiosa premieres on May 24th, and it stars Taylor-Joy as a younger version of Imperator Furiosa, originally played by Charlize Theron.
