Anya Taylor-Joy Is a Dior Darling in Glam Ball Gown on Cannes Red Carpet — and Gives Major Old Hollywood Vibes

The actress stunned in an Old Hollywood-inspired look on the second day of the film festival

Anya Taylor-Joy looks like Hollywood royalty at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The 28-year-old star arrived at the Wednesday, May 15 screening of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in a strapless champagne-colored Dior ball gown. She accessorized the glamorous look with a statement necklace and glittering earrings from Tiffany & Co.

The star's Old Hollywood-inspired glam was even giving Marilyn Monroe vibes. Her icy blonde was styled into a chic updo and her makeup look featured winged eyeliner and red lipstick.

The Furiosa screening marks the second day of the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival. The event kicked off on Tuesday, May 14 and ends on May 25.

Taylor-Joy stars as the title character of Furiosa in the fifth installment of the Mad Max franchise (the role was previously played by Charlize Theron). The film tells Furiosa's origin story and spans years.

She may be grunged-up in the film, but the Taylor-Joy has had some seriously chic style moments during the Furiosa press tour. For the Thursday, May 2 premiere in Sydney, Australia, Joy stunned in an embellished gold and silver minidress and matching headpiece, both adorned with giant spikes that resemble arrows. The look, styled by Ryan Hastings, is from Paco Rabanne's spring/summer 1996 collection.

Her long, blonde hair was hidden underneath the headpiece and she accessorized with clear slingback pumps.

Furiosa is a prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and hits theaters May 24. Joy and her costar, Chris Hemsworth, unveiled details, footage and never-before-seen photos for fans at CinemaCon 2024 in Las Vegas on April 9.

At the event, Joy wore a theme-appropriate ensemble — a halter-style studded minidress that bears resemblance to car tires.

“Vroommmmm,” the actress captioned an Instagram post showing off the look.

“I have very much been in her head,” Taylor-Joy says of her role as Furiosa in a behind-the-scenes featurette shared exclusively with PEOPLE. “This character is so inspirational. She’s opened up a whole other universe for me.”

“When she sets her mind to something, that is it,” the actress explains. “Her refusal to go down, that is the only way through it. You have no idea who you are dealing with.”

Taylor-Joy also shared that she “put my whole body into this, utterly, at every level.”

In the clip, Hemsworth, 40, seconded Joy’s statement, saying, “Anya brought such a passion, such a depth. She is Furiosa.”
