Anthony Mackie Post-Apocalyptic Thriller Elevation Picked Up by Vertical

Vertical has officially acquired the U.S. rights to the forthcoming post-apocalyptic thriller titled Elevation, which will be led by Marvel stars Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Civil War) and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool).

In addition to leading the cast, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star is also serving as a producer. The film is expected to be released in theaters later this year.

“The film is set in a post-apocalyptic Rocky Mountains, where a single father and two women venture from the safety of their homes to face monstrous creatures to save the life of a young boy,” reads the synopsis.

Who’s involved in Elevation?

Elevation is directed and produced by George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau) from a script co-written by John Glenn (Eagle Eye), Jacob Roman and Kenny Ryan (SEAL Team). The film also stars Maddie Hasson (Malignant), Danny Boyd Jr. (Bruised), Dave Malkoff (Meltdown), Shauna Earp (Outer Range) and more. It is produced by Brad Fuller, Alex Black, Natalie Sellers, Jeremy Kipp Walker and Joel Viertel, with Jon Rosenberg executive producing.

“Working with Anthony Mackie, for a third time now, Morena Baccarin, and the rest of our exceptional cast and crew to bring this innovative screenplay to life was a blast,” Nolfi said in a statement. “Anthony, Morena, and the rest of the team dove in head first (sometimes literally) as we shot action scenes in some extremely challenging places — from a working ski lift high in the Colorado Rockies, to an active mine under a mile of rock — all to enhance the theatrical experience of the film. We are thrilled to partner with Vertical to put this film in theaters all across the country later this year.”

Besides Elevation, both Mackie and Baccarin are currently set to reprise their respective Marvel roles as Sam Wilson/ Captain America and Vanessa in two different MCU movies. On February 14 2025, Mackie will be leading his first MCU movie as the solo lead with Captain America: Brave New World. Meanwhile, Baccarin will reunite with Ryan Reynolds later this year in July in Marvel Studios’ first-Rated movie Deadpool and Wolverine.
