Anne Hathaway: 'I’ll Work With Ivanka Trump'

Anne Hathaway stopped by The View to talk about her new movie, Colossal, and the discussion soon turned to her recent appointment to the role of U.N. Women Goodwill ambassador. On International Women’s Day, the actress gave a speech about the importance of parental leave that earned her one very high-profile new fan: Ivanka Trump.

View co-host Joy Behar found the first daughter’s adoration to be a bit irritating. “She tweeted all sorts of good things about you, a link to your speech and the whole nine yards. But you know, she said it was excellent and everything. I find that just a little, not hypocritical, but disingenuous in many ways,” Behar said. She referred to President Trump’s attempts to defund Planned Parenthood and take away maternity leave, and asked Hathaway, “Does it annoy you as much as it annoys me?”

After pausing a moment to compose her thoughts, Hathaway said that she’d be willing to work with Ivanka if it accomplished something. “I don’t agree with her on everything, and she doesn’t agree with me on everything. But if us putting that aside and acting like grownups lets people who need support and need help get it, yeah, you’re right. I’ll do that.”
