10 Memorable Times TV Characters Used Marijuana

It’s April 20 (aka 4/20), and cannabis lovers around the world will be celebrating “Weed Day.” In its honor, the video above highlights 10 memorable times TV characters used pot.

Obviously characters from stoner-approved series like That ’70s Show and Broad City made the list, but some of the pot smokers in this video may surprise you. Jane Fonda’s strait-laced character on Grace and Frankie lights up with her daughters, Beth makes William some pot brownies to help with his appetite on This Is Us, and even good girl Peggy Olson from Mad Men declares, “I wanna smoke some marijuana.”

Medical marijuana use is a highly debated topic and was addressed on The Simpsons when Homer is given a prescription for weed to help him with an eye injury. Pot smoking on TV isn’t just for humans. South Park features Towelie (the stoner towel), and the titular character of FX’s Wilfred was a foul-mouthed, pot-loving pooch.
