Anna Wintour Is Reportedly Giving This Celeb the Kim Kardashian Fashion Makeover Before Met Gala

The 2024 Met Gala could take a twist that no one was expecting if the rumors about Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour are true. It seems that the fashion gatekeeper is looking to crown a new red-carpet icon by giving this celebrity a makeover. She has done it in the past by transforming Kim Kardashian from a run-of-the-mill reality star to a coveted A-list fashion queen, so it can certainly happen again.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are reportedly set to be anointed as “America’s new royalty” at the red carpet gala, according to Page Six. The billionaire’s star power and his fiancée’s intriguing allure have reportedly been in the works for quite a while with Wintour. For fans who were paying attention, the wealthy duo had a soft launch in the December 2023 issue of Vogue with glossy photos in designer duds as they were intertwined with each other.

The breathless coverage had Bezos and Sánchez gushing about each other, too. “She has really helped me put more energy into my relationships,” he told Vogue. “She’s always encouraging me: ‘Call your kids. Call your dad. Call your mom.’ And she’s also just a very good role model.” Sánchez was equally as complimentary about the Amazon founder, sharing, “He’s the life of the party. He’s just extremely enthusiastic, and extremely funny. He can be really goofy. I mean, you’ve heard him laugh, right?” Even their 2019 infidelity was reframed as a “love affair,” a more romantic description of the fact that they were both married to other people at the time. 

The magazine has already covered their engagement party, so there’s no doubt that their A-list wedding will be featured in the pages of Vogue. It will be Sánchez’s own Carrie Bradshaw moment, even though her style is much flashier than the Sex and the City character. The experienced helicopter pilot grabbed headlines for her recent Rasario dress, which was anything but subtle at the very conservative White House state dinner. She was unapologetically dressed in a sheer red lace gown with a plunging neckline, but this is exactly the type of personality Wintour loves to get her hands on — just look at what she did for Kim.

The fashion icon went from criticizing the Kardashians to featuring Kim and Kanye West on the cover of the magazine. “Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it; Wintour wrote about the April 2014 cover, per Us Weekly. It seems that she’s taking that same approach with Bezos and Sánchez as they become one of the top A-list guests in Hollywood, Washington, D.C., and now, New York City.
