Angie Harmon Shares ‘Don’t Give Up’ Message After Her Dog Is Shot and Killed by Instacart Driver

Angie Harmon is sharing strength amid her heartache.

The Rizzoli & Isles actress shared an inspirational quote on her Instagram Story on Wednesday. It was her first post since she revealed the tragic news that her dog Oliver died after he was allegedly shot and killed by an Instacart delivery man.

“God is saying to you today, ‘Don’t give up. I am your strength. Despite everything you’ve dealt with this year, I’m pulling you through,' " read the quote, originally posted by the page Daily Bible Verses.

“‘I’ve never left you and I’m not going to let you down. Things will get better.' ” the quote continued. "'Trust Me now.' "

Harmon first spoke out about Oliver's death on Monday, mourning the loss with a series of photos and videos of the German shepherd/beagle mix.

The dog died over the Easter weekend at her home in Charlotte, N.C., Harmon said, when "a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot and killed" the "precious" dog. "Our ring camera was charging in the house, which he saw and then knew he wasn't being recorded."

She added that the police let the delivery man go due to him claiming self-defense. "He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn,” Harmon wrote.

PEOPLE obtained a copy of the incident report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, confirming the case — which is still open — has been classified as a "non-criminal incident."

Officers from the South Division responded to Harmon's home on Saturday, March 30. CMPD’s Animal Care and Control was also present.

According to police, the driver "told officers that a dog attacked him while he was at the residence and that he defended himself by firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog." The added, "Another dog was present at the residence but did not attack."

No criminal charges have been filed in relation to the incident, and CMPD is not currently seeking any additional parties, police noted.

PEOPLE has reached out to Harmon's lawyer for response.

Meanwhile the driver, who's name has not been released, has been suspended by Instacart, company representatives said.

"We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident,” they said in a statement to PEOPLE. “We have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account was immediately suspended from our platform. We have been in direct contact with the customer and are cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation."
