Anderson Cooper Snaps at Trump Supporter, Apologizes

Anderson Cooper got heated during a discussion on his CNN program AC360 regarding a recent Donald Trump political rally in New Hampshire during which a member of the audience referred to Muslims as a “problem,” insinuated that President Obama is Muslim and not American, and wanted to know what Trump would do about it. Cooper brought in Andy Dean, the former president of Trump Productions, to talk about the Donald’s seemingly cheerful reaction to the question.

Dean defended Trump’s answer, which amounted to “we will be looking into that.” Those comments riled up Cooper, who responded aggressively with, “Andy, I’ve spent more time overseas than you ever have in your little life.” Dean took offense at Cooper’s comment and went on the defensive himself. Rather than backing off, Anderson continued to go after Dean, questioning his expertise on the matter at hand.

The two continued to go back and forth over the semantics of Trump’s statement. Ultimately, Dean made the point that Trump is concerned with radical Islam but has no problem with the Muslim community at large. After the dust settled and the other guests had said their piece, Cooper backtracked and apologized to Dean. He also tweeted an apology after the show.
